Be careful when learning when you pass gate holes and holes in hedges. The cross winds can be pretty sketchy.

Cheers for the advice, I'll be wary of cross winds. I'm going to start off with a few shorter rides then ramp it up. How did you find changing gear with the shifters being at the end of the arm rests.

Had a big day out with 2500ft climbs on a 9 mile bike ride. Absolutely knackered. Glad I put the 34t on now though. Made it kind of bearable. Epic day weather wise.

Sounds expensive. Will you have it sorted by next weekend?

I guess it's soft metal like in a kit Kat wrapper. Always seem to have issues them bikes Cole. Loads of horror stories on the net. Good luck in fixing it though.

Those of you with road bikes, do you use double sided mtb spd's or single sided road ones?

I use mtb spd's one side and flat other side. Best of both worlds then.
Sometimes when you just want to jump on and go.....

Morning campers right, bike locks. We've now concreted the outbuilding floor and we concreted in a hook so I can chain the bikes up.
Main question - do I just go for a length of chain from a DIY store and a decent lock, or a branded lock & chain from a bike shop? They seem anywhere between £30 and £100, just not sure if a DIY job will be just as good at a fraction of the cost? Thoughts?

Fit more than one is my advise the more difficult you make it the less likely that theives will take things also more chance of being caught the longer it takes them

Single sided on my summer bikes and double sided on the winter bike. The summer bikes only get used in nicer weather and my road shoes have vent holes in the bottom making for cold feet in winter!

Realised Madison do Kryptonite and they're a customer at work, so sometimes I can get staff purchases.
Selected this one as I need it to be quite long:
http://www.madison.co.uk/products/cycling/accessories/locks/new-york-fahgettaboudit-chain-and-padlock-150-cm/
Bike Radar review said it took 3 minutes to get through and blunted the angle grinder blade in the process

Shite
Only chain and lock combo worth having is Almax 3/4 and Squire SS65CS lock
http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/Almax-Immobiliser-Series-IV/c-1-70/
or
Protector 19mm and same padlock.
http://securityforbikes.com/security-chains.php
None will stop a grinder but they are noisy and not often the tools of choice. The above will be prevent pretty much all mechanical attacks, croppers, sledgehammers etc...

Any one know if you can repair/patch a tubless tyre? Had a bit of a blow out yesterday and splatted sealant everywhere. Chucked a tube in to get home. Tyre is only a couple of rides old and at £50 to replace I'd rather fix it if possible.
Took a hit right in the middle of the tread. Any tips or CS knowledge?
