Yea mate should of put it in water. I did think by the pictures it looked dry. Water will help it shrink around the manifold when dry and is also easier to apply the wrap. Messy as fuck but it's so much easier and better outcome mate

Warm or cold doesn't matter. Advise warm tho if you doing it outside, just to keep your pinkys warm.

the tape stretches when its wet so when it dries out it shrinks and goes ubber tight on the manifold,

Big update 03.03.2012 :

Well today was the day to finally get the engine completed and be ready for fitting tomoz.

Started off by buying some tiger seal for the rubbers and then went to my dad's work to get the crane again. As soon as we got back home me and my dad started work on the belt. I did the dipstick tube and thermostat gaskets while he did the belt. Here's some photo's of us starting work :

Built the crane up to take some weight off the engine and then took a few of the bolts out of the stand to turn the crank





1st pulley off



Belt off



Old and new bits



Bottom pulley off







Pully wheels off







And then all built back up and alternator belt tightened





Thermostat and dipstick tube gasket on



Cambelt cover back on



And then the box fitted and back in shed,couldn't get pictures as i was holding gearbox 'cos i've been to gym









And then couldn't resist and fitted the silver cover and took the straps off











And then tiger sealed my rubbers,hope they dry in time

Masked up



And filled like a cow's cunt! Ash?



And here's a picture of the transformation.

did you torque the crank pully up right mate as dont want it coming out and killing your engine ?
