Red Riding Hood. 5/10

Reviews are very average. Poster looks good and it should have made a good film. Anything with Gary Oldman in is worth a watch. His accent is pretty good, he plays a priest/man of god that comes to rid a village of the wolf. The girl who plays RRH is fit, but doesn't have a lot to do. You see the wolf's eyes briefly about 30min in. The rest of the film centres around making the village safe, accusing RRH of being involved and various other residents being accused. You see the wolf properly towards the end when it attacks the village. Could have looked a lot better too, for the 1300's it could have been grittier. Average reviews were right. Not sure whether the film being made by the director of Twilight had anything to do with it...

John carter - 6/10 it was alright
Detachment - 6/10 about a substitute teacher and, well a lot of other things. Bit of an odd film.

Shame 8/10

I had heard great things about this low key independent movie and thought I would check it out after seeing Roger Ebert naming it as his 2nd favourite film of 2011. I must say I was really impressed with this, a truly powerful film with another convincing performance by fassbender. Some of the scenes are shot in one cut and has a beautiful and haunting musical score (mostly piano).

The story is about how he is struggling to deal with sex addiction. He leads a desperately empty and unhappy life and if you have been down this route (As I did about 5 years ago) then it will be all the more pertinent.

Fantastic piece of film making and fassbender can do no wrong imho.

For those that appreciate independent films and creative film making only. IE: Transformers boys you will not like it.

The Island - 7/10

Very entertaining, but also very Michael Bay. The sun seems to be constantly setting and everything blows up.

Image and sound quality is fantastic.

Wouldn't say it's a complete rip off, certainly similar. Although The Island is a typical easy to follow no-thinking-required film whereas i found 1138 to be the complete opposite; probably why i've only watched my copy once

No not a complete rip off.

Likewise Equilibrium stole quite a lot from 1984, right down to the dicator, which was John Hurt, the main star of 1984!

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. I enjoyed it but don't think it's as good as the otherse & it seemed like they had tried to turn it in to a comedy loads of stupid stuff in it for comedy effect

I would have given it higher, but I don't know whether to post in here why or the actual thread! Plus I don't want to spoil anything, if there is anything left to spoil!
