Im very disappointed we seem to have 'settled' for downing, £20m would have probably got Juan Mata surely?

All i can guess is that Liverpool, without Europe are struggling to attract the big names, so are settling for English talent (who are probably still attracted because of the history of Liverpool) and of course if you are English and are semi good the price goes through the roof.

How much does this bring Kenny's spending to this year? I dont care about NET tranfer spend, how much have they spent bringing in players this year?

Could be a big season for Liverpool this, imagine if they didnt make europe again?

Carroll - £35m
Suarez - £23mish
Henderson - £16-20m (sources vary)
Adam - £6.5-9m (as above)
Downing - £20m

total spend £105m - £107m

If you are spending that sort of money then Europe is an absoloute minimum, tbh, CL should be a minimum, anything else should be considered failure.

I'll be surprised if anyone agrees Carroll and hendo are proven.

The two above were who I was referring to in my previous post, I wasn't saying downing and adams weren't proven.

I think Downo is a good buy. Stats don't lie. Only cesc, fatty, thug and hrh Ryan giggs have created more chances.

Downo Adamo and Hendo created 239 chances between them, 56% of liverpools total 429.

20m is a reasonable fee :E better than some of the wank they've been spending money on
