got bit more done.

located dash bar in as it helps keep the shape making measuring easier. unsure if it will actually be used. depends if johnathan and his skills with fibreglass and other sorts of stuff can modify the heater box enough so it still works as im not taking it out. its still a road car at end of day.

tacked some more bits in. then to weld round the tops of the cage you have to lower it down off the floor plates. ratchet strap is useful

then there is just about enough space to get round it to weld it all

so thats the main hoop and a pillar bars, screen bar and roof bar all fully welded together. tomorrow after work will get floor plates welded in properly, porta-power and hammer the cage back to the marks and measurements we have made. weld it in to the floor plates properly then start working on the back of the cage to the rear turrets. get some of that tacked together.

worst part will be doing to the front turrets id say.

sorry pics are poor. my n96 isnt so good in low light places.

good night.

got bit further with the cage

seen as it was lowered down and welded around the tops, be a good idea to give it some etch primer as it basically touches the roof in places so will struggle to get there later with primer.

then foot plates were welded in and time to get the cage back into position. obviously with welding it removed from its location as you have to, things will move slightly with being warmed and then cooled. so it took some gentle persuasion from mr porta-power

manners, aka matthew172 turned up to opperate the device.

started to weight up other bits and pieces see how they fit and start to mark stuff up.

door bar on driver side isnt quite finished yet although as it was tacked threw the chair and steering wheel in to get an idea of how easy it is to get in or out. 16 and a half stone says its not that easy. do-able just not in a stylish manner.

hope to get down and do a bit more on thursday or friday night, and then again on weekend. try and get it finished by weekend after and move on to the fuel pump.

RASPING. WELD the door bars and triangulations to the rear turrets in before you weld the foot plates to the cage.

Not that i know that through having a incumbriant retard weld a cage in....

indeed. just going to tack the rest of it in now piece by piece till its good enough then weld it properly.

will be doing the rear bits next after door bars tacked in to keep shape for the front. leave front bits till last id say.
