I need to get the flakes off. The trouble with my paint job is can't just key it and paint over it. Initially it wasn't keyed at all so the paint is flaking off, so really the whole lot needs to go. From the work I did today on a friends car 40 grit did seem far too course We were using some finer grade stuff, he had the same problem as me, his entire paint job needed to come off because it was bodged on Bloody Midas Styling...

well if you need to take it right off just use 80 grit but still would reccomend an interface pad with it on the sides but roof would be ok to use as normal!

A friend of mine is going to be doing the spray work as he is a pro who does prestige car repairs, though he and a friend are currently setting up thier own bodyshop together.
The plan of action is to get the current paint off with a course paper, then to go over it with some 240 r aybe 400 then the guy who's doing the pinting has requested that we carry on going to 800 grit to get everything ultra smooth for the new paint. I'll ask him about intarface pads too because I haven't used them. Are they like Scotch pads? Cos I know about them

an interface pad is a soft pad that u put between the DA and the paper!
its just so that you can use it on panels that are not straight and u wont get uneven bodywork!
there only like £4 each and i always use one!

I have bought myself a decent quality pressure washer now and I am going to get it in the next few days or so. So, all I need to do is hoover out all the dust and shite from my cars engine bay (we have a a fair few pine trees at our place and thier needles get in everywhere!) and pressure wash it!
Then there is the mucky job of doing the arches and the underside of the car. I think I will take the fuel tank and lines off for that job so I can clean the fuel tank on it's own so it can have a coat of Hammerite.
Finally a bit more stuff is happening on my car. I wired in the doop poppers yesterday evening too, they all work and I hope they do the job alright.
Can't wait to update my progress thread with some pics! But I'm getting there

With Hammerite, that is unless I can find some ramps to get the car up in the air enough.
I also need to do some work on the underseal as there are a few rough bits that need sorting from trolly jack abuse e.t.c...

May aswell spill the beans, the car is going to be white, with black and green detailing.
I have four boxes of stuff now, they contain:
White powder coated parts,
Black powder coated parts,
Green powder coated parts, and,
Nickel plated parts.
None of which have been coated yet though

Non metalic. It's mainly for interior detailing, but I'm keeping the theme going on by getting the major suspension components done in green and having the spings nickel plated. The outside will look just black and white to the untrained eye...

Yea, hence the reason I'm only getting the crap I have on the car now re-coated for temporary measure.
The airbag kit I plan on getting will be custom and designed by me. I'm probably going to have to use Rayvern front bags as I don't know where to get that sort from and probably Rayvern pumps, but the rest is being made by me or bought from the local pump shop. It's going to be a fast system to say the least

Been a bust boy today, I'll let the photos do the talking. I gave the doors and bonnet my fav abuse. The Nitromors kind
The bonnet was the best pannel on the car, though the laquer was bubbled and they must have used cheap Halfords crap on it. Tom wants to look at it with a magnifying glass because it's cracking and shitting up already.
[forgot to take any more pics of it ]
Finally.......
