thats what i thought, can't see the reasoning behind the move other than money because he said he'd only move to get CL footie, and city aint even got europa cup or whatever and villa have

And, I don't think Barry seems like a money grabber ala Robinho. He probably believes City will be challenging soon.

He believes wrong then IMO, I really cant see Man City breaking into the top 4 for a fair while yet

The pure reason is you can almost guarentee if Man city start quite poorly next season (ie anywhere below 8th) then Hughes will be sacked by Xmas. Cue 6 monthly sackings and huge instability at the club.
Barry will have retired long before Man City play in the Champions League

Hughes isn't the man they need if they really have ambitions of CL football.
I don't like Citeh, so hope they fuck it all up tbh.

Me either, dirty players and I don't their fans! Plus their kit is shit
Seeing them finishing where they did this season or lower would bring a great smile to my face!
Looking back, Hughes could have progressed with Blackburn.

i have just started a thread about this, gotta be about money, he is 28 now,
city are gonna be building for a couple of years at least, is he gonna be able to cut it at the top at the age of 30-31?
scholes and giggs became bit part players at this type of age
not a good move for me im afraid!
thats the last place i expected him to go,
suppose this probably means alonso will stay at liverpool

Well Arsenal and Liverpool were rumoured, Liverpool more documented then rumoured, to be interested in Barry. I did just read that Citeh have given him £100k a week though. Which nobody else would've been able to offer. I thought better of Barry if its for the money.

City for the top 4 next season at Arsenals expense.
I believe a few good buys and they will be in the mix.

Even with Hughes though? With the players they had this season they shouldve finished higher than they did IMO.

Not really, Scholes and Giggs became bit part players the other season. They've prominantly been in the team for the last few years.

In their dreams
Money grabbing tosspiece And bollocks to the whole needs to be starting in WC year, he would have done so at Villa and they are still a better bet for CL next season than City, he also doesnt really fit into the side very well

Aston Villa, with a decent summer budget, will be first in the queue for a top 4 spot behind the top 4. If it weren't for a shocking turn of form at the start of 2009 they'd be there this year.

Not a chance Villa will ever come as close again as they did this season, they blew it and Barry knows it thats why he left.
I cannot see any team other than City with the resources to break into the top 4.
Hughes was slated but when you look at what he inherited off Sven it was a load of fucking shit. They displayed relegation form in the latter part of Svens reign. Also they only got money to spend on the final say of the summer transfer window so it was impossible to make any major buys at that stage (only robbie).
