I'd LOVE to know how you got a repayment mortgage for £330/month unless you put down SPASTIC amounts of cash?

I love how how he's getting abuse for a £330 per month mortgage, I post up that mine is £131 and nothing is said

Does rather skew the discussion of buying vs renting when the person who bought had lots of money to put in.

That might make buying slightly more attractive

How do you know they have no money though mate? They may just not flash it about? I've always driven shitters despite the fact I could afford to go buy nice new cars. They may be just living frugally while living at home so they can move out quicker with a decent deposit.

Or they could be a couple of right weirdo's weridos and spending it all on an immaculate hornby train set in their parents loft.

they always moan about not having money which is how i know.

one drives a brand new audi a3, every night they bring in lunches that would cost about £5 each from a supermarket and they always have pics of themselves on facebook on nights out.

IMO, if the pro's and cons of renting and buying were written out, they'd totally balance out

Edit - taking personal circumstances into account of course

[Edited on 15-11-2011 by Aaron]
i dunno, the only real pro of buying (which clearly is a massive pro), is that you own the property at the end

Not if its interest only..

I'm pretty sure Robbo was taling about a repayment mortgage
funnily enough indeed i was who takes out an interest only mortgage? can udnerstand switching to it under certain circumstances for alimited period of time but otherwise, as Kerry said tbh

How much equity do you have?

We're talking about people moving out from their parents.. i.e. not a lot of capital.

when i started saving i was on 26k so not exactly flush and i managed it whilst running a car that cost me £700 a month aswell.

people would just rather go and spend £100 a week on drinking and clubbing and then go shopping and spend another 100 on clothes, then moan they will have to downgrade their life to be able to move out.

What the actual fuck?

Please understand that at £750 a month to rent, I am not on 26k a year, hence living at home.

I do not spend £100 a week on drinking, in fact i think I spend about £30 a week, most of which is related to University.

Maybe, just maybe some people cannot actually afford to move out?
