Lol i only spent a few hours while the mrs and bairn were out

So started the day like this

Rad ect out - will re use as its decent


Then got manifold off (scrap as im having a 4 branch)

Then Attempted and failed lifting out the top - shafts hitting

So did this

Then left it like this



Few points worthy of note

The wiring was a right mess - may have to get a new harness to convert my corsa loom but shall see

Shafts ect all look brand new

Its cold today

And a question for the people in the know - id imagine my 1.2 has a close ratio box and this has an f20??? Shouldve checked tbh - can i use the 1.2 box and would it take circa 200bhp?

We will be back on it monday to get the 1.2 out

Pretty much copy most of dave greens spec - tbs for 200bhp

Will have to slow down parts buying as have a pregnant mrs and a wedding to pay for

You tried to take it out the top with the drive shafts still in the box? No wonder it didn't come out lol ,

Could be f16 f18 or f20 mate just have a lol on the top

That engine won't mate to a 1.2 box though

You cleaning and painting it etc or just throwing it in?

Lol i didnt want oil all over so left shafts in

And will check monday

Just chucking it in for now - really just a mock up stage at this point - will paint and have rebuilt before it goes back next time

I'd try and use an f20 if you don't like getting gear oil everywhere when you change the 1.2 box there will be oil

most x20xev's had F18's on them, never had any trouble with mine. and it had a tall 5th gear so motorway driving was good and gave good mpg. could see 30+mpg even when see was 226bhp on a motorway run. usual was around 26mpg. in low gears it was still quite nippy and put much more powerful cars to shame.

Lol shafts off other engine

Rear mount and shafts off car, everything unplugged near enough, rad out

Early tomorrow - coilies on, exhaust off, engine out, new engine in
