Just got back from a fucking horribly wet cold and fecking windy ride round Whinlatter.

Lost the feeling in my feet it was that cold. Hailstones the lot. Had a fucking whole heap of fun mind and even spunked £30 on some facey thermal waterproof socks in the shop lol.

How you loving the General Lee Rick? I was loving mine today...

Test rode my new shoes and spd's tonight on a night ride. Quick 13 mile spin and didn't fall off once, just weird feeling being clipped in. Definatley felt better though and going up hill was easier, and standing up pedalling up hill is easier too.

For 150mm travel bike it doesn't look like it pedals bad.

TBH Its cracking, for the money the range it provides is great. Means I can run the dropper post remote under the bar where the old front shifter used to be which helps protect it as well.

Off out again in the morning for some more miles, it feels spot on now I have remover a volume space from the rear shock. Its so much nicer to ride than my old Mojo, it might be down to the placebo effect or the wheel size I don't know but I am very much at home on it.

It rides lovely, uphill and down. If I could have a choice of one mountain bike I would choose this out of all the ones I have owned (its been a lot!), its just so versatile. It climbs well (Ok not 100mm XC bike well but well) and descends very nicely.

I know this doesn't help you at all Ben but seeing Cavmads cash converters idea reminded me.

A friend had his flat broken into earlier in the year and his laptop was stolen. He went to the local cash converter place and the geezer that had nicked it was actually in there at the same time trying to flog it!

Hey everyone...

Until recently I'd not really been on a bike for years. At the start of the summer I dusted off my old Specialized P3 jump bike which to be fair wasn't really the best suited to the types of rides I was doing.

Cycle to work is available so I'm going to buy a functional bike and I've narrowed it down to three and I would appreciate your thoughts:

Cheers for the responses, those of you who have said Trek, is this for any real reason or do you just think it is a bit better?

smcGSI16V - looking at a 29er for a few reasons. I've read they suit a taller person and at just shy of 6'4" I think that's me. They supposedly give a smoother more forgiving ride as well and the majority of my rides won't be that technical.

my mate jimbothebarbarian seems to manage everything we have thrown at his 29" monster wheels, even on the secrets it manages to manoeuvre around no problems.
