Its basically a stage from the Tour de France for amateurs. Next years route includes going up the Col du Tourmalet and the Hautacam. Never heard of the second one but looked it up its over 1500 metres and steep.
Should be a good laugh got a couple of mates doing it too.

I nearly got knocked off by a bloke on a push bike last night :lol Sat waiting behind a car at a junction and he just barged down the inside of me and out onto the junction! I caught him up and gave him a clip round the back of the head and some verbal.
He was not fazed in the slightest

had a nice ride with some athlete pro mates tonight. them lot can't half pedal up hills. i struggled to keep up with them but i guess its how i will advance my fitness.
also got a gold cup on one of the descents which I'm quite happy about as it was pitch black up the top of the fell.

I thought you were northern and hard and only wore shorts and t shirts in the winter.
Or are you becoming a poncy southerner.
btw I have some Endura thermolite tights and they are awesome in this chilly southern weather, really nice and soft and warm and the mud/water doesn't stick it just falls off.

What tyres do people recommend for UK trail centres these days?
Assume more winter riding at places like Cannock and Llandegla.
Looking at getting the GF some new tyres as hers are the stock OEM shite.
I run Panracer Fire XC Pro's and really like them. Maybe a bit slippy on wet smooth rocks but I guess most tyres are?
Neither of us a DH pro racers and are both unfit so probably stick to 2.1's rather than anything wider.

i really like the maxis cross mark i have on the back. seems really good for climbing on all surfaces/conditions. tested it in the mud, boggy mud and snow in the last week.
id like to try a hans dampf on the front next.

don't get the maxxis high roller in 2.1 its shite compared to its 2.35 version. For Cannock I would suggest the schwalbe nobby nic pretty cheap but a good tyre. barnes I can get hans dampfs for £50 a pair but if you are not interested in that buy them from Germany much cheaper than here

here you go - gone up in price a bit now but still reasonable considering Castelli and Rapha are £200 plus
Did 80 miles today in cold mist and rain and was massively impressed with them. Im a fat bastard too so the sizing seems generous

If people are interested in base layers I bought an Under Armour Cold Gear turtle neck and it really is bloody amazing. Seriously warm bit of kit!

been looking to buy a bike lately to try to get a bit fitter, few boys from work go to glentress regularly and wouldnt mind getting into it.
Would rather have a hardtail so can use it for normal cycles as well as i imagine full suspension would make normal pedalling a bit harder
opinions on this? trek seems to be a decent enough name, few people have mentioned hydralic disks are alot better than mechanical but is there really that much difference?
for the money seems decent enough for the amount of times il probably end up using it

would probs spend up to about 600 on a bike, wont be spending thousands like some people
lifetime warranty on the frame of treks as well so ive read
bike wont get loads of abuse anyway, just a few trails and stuff, dont think i could justify spending silly money on one, as i say it probs wont get used all that often anyway

Fuck yeah is it!
As for tires I ripped the nobby nics straight off mine and replaced with hans damphs.
I found nobby nics fucking dangerous!
