I bought a new bike light on Cole's reccomendation and I have to say that I am very impressed with it.

Solarstorm for £27 on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131041049161?var=430223549943&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Really impressive, but I don't have any other bike like to compare it to.

Hopefully get amongst a night trail ride in the near future now I have the right light for it.

That's a cheap light. But with anything like that off eBay I'd be worried about it randomly catching fire when charging...

I don't just charge it over night. Just plug it in while I am sat in the room to charge it

Commuters in the hizouse?

Winter is kicking off and I need to make sure I don't pussy out because its too cold...which I have already been doing. Can anyone recommend any gear for winter riding? I'm currently in a 3/4 bib but it just isn't enough. I was thinking of getting a new bib like the one Dr Pepper is recommending, some overshoes and hat/gloves - any recommendation? I'm riding a road bike most of the time now.

I wear a decent hi-via waterproof jacket, windstopper jersey underneath that and a mesh base layer. Seal Skinz gloves and a pair of gore contest thermo bib tights or castelli nano flex bib tights. I also have a pair of Endura shoe covers that keep a lot of wet out.

Not been too cold in that set up yet.

I got a hi viz coat off Jimbo the barbarian I think he said it was an aldi special. It's bang on, windproof, pretty much water proof. I'm looking at the winter bib dr pepper linked up also. Being too soft and driving to work is for wimps, which currently I am.

I'm popping by the bike shop on my way home tonight, going to get some tights, overshoes and new gloves. Hopefully that with the merlo top I have and hi viz jacket should do the job. Don't want to keep coming up with excuses

I got some Northwave GTX I think they are, really good and keep my feet very warm and dry. I sized up so I can get a good thick sock on as well. Got them for £85iirc on offer at the end of last winter.

I believe Aldi today were doing base layers and a bib of sorts. Didn't get chance to check it out, imagine there will still be stock for couple days though. I'm currently only wearing gloves and a jacket I got from Aldi last time round. May have to start wrapping up a little more soon

Off to glentress today to ride some of the black and all the red. Should make a nice 20+ mile route. Not even going to get above 0 degrees there today so may have to mountain bike like a road biker in tights. Definitely not looking like an all pro rider today.

Bust my knee up a bit. Fair swollen now and some nice scars to show the women next week anyway. Knee pads didn't like to stay put when they are on top of biking leggings, became more of a shin guard right at the wrong time.
