Fitted the MSA/FIA rain light today... it looks a bit retarded but I didnt have the blue book at hand to check the regs. Patience and all that! All i remembered was centre of car, but looks like just any height on the centre would have been fine. Not a biggie to move (lower), and I'm needing the boot lid resprayed anyway

Yeah, tap around the dent and it should pop out if you hit the right spot.

Would it be worth sinking that into the boot so that its not sticking out?

I will make it look better.... some time. I'll make a bracket behind the outer skin for t to mount to, so only a few mm will be poking out. It does look mighty shite just now
Wired it and the fog (which needed re-wired a bit) to switches on the centre panel now (with wee LED's). Just need a bloody label maker to make stickers for them.
Also lowered the rear suspension before taking the car to Wallace Performance for the getting the Whiteline balljoints fitted (dont have a separator) then geometry...... and sump/oil/bearings/rod inspection :/
Quite a large drop

Was the engine bad from the off or has track abuse killed it?

it was a funny sounding engine (more a top end noise) but it survived about 4 trackdays with me.
I really need a dry sump I think.

Ordered new short block today
Lateral Closed Deck 2.1 stroker.
EJ257 2.5lt STI crank, block machined to suit.
Lateral H Beam long stroker rod set
Lateral/Wiseco custom 2.1lt piston kit, with up rated pins
Will use my exitisng V4 STi heads with piper cams (refreshed though) and stick with the 20G for a while.

new wheels... 5x100 off an STi8 i think. Supposed to be 8" wide, but think they are 7.5". Not too fussed about that as long as they clear the brake calipers.
Stripped the headers and inlet off my old block to tidy them up. Had a look in the heads and there appears to be some headwork (confirm/deny?). Valve seats cut back, a bit of porting.... the cams look to be pretty wild too with the amount of lift on the valves (accordign to Russ).
AFP 20G still appears in good nick, but will prob be needing cleaned/checked out after bearing failure
Ok... headers off (any ideas on brand?) and will wrap them
Inlet off, stripped, old red paint cleaned off and its currently in the dishwasher

those two pipes (off ICV and TB) are for coolant (to stop them icing up ?!). Will just loop them on the block and remove as I'm sure that one of them was the bastard that caused a lot of hassle when it burst between rounds at Sneterton
Headers wrapped.....
away for an itch now
