It can only run one app at a time.
So you couldnt have music on in the background whilst surfing the net, checking your emails, etc.

Yes we know that but there will be many people out there that will think Apply have invented some awesome new type of mobile computer thingy that is completly revoloutionary, and will rush out and buy one. Not realising that there are many similar devices that have been around for ages that they had no need for.

Yeah but previously they may not of needed one, previously people didnt haven a need for netbooks even though small laptops were about - peoples habbits have changed and I think something like the tablet (although an old technology) is perfectly placed (be it by Apple or another company) to fill that gap.

There aren't 'loads' of alternatives already available though, are there?
The Archos 9 thing doesn't have multitouch
The HP slate hasn't been given a date for release
The MSI slate hasn't had all the details confirmed yet
The Dell mini tablet will be nearer a $1000
What have I missed, genuine question?

Not read all the thread so not really sure what other stuff has been posted, but IMO this will take of becuase:
a) It's made by apple
b) It looks cool
It may have shit loads of stuff on it (I'm not up to speed with shit like this so have no idea) but from seeing a few pics a quick read about it in the paper something like this comes across as a fashion accesory to me, which means folk will want one simply to say they own one.

Looks like the iBook part wont be available over here on launch. Saw Engadget mentioning that it was not mentioned at all on the Ozzie Apple site, and just looked now on the UK one and its missing from there too...

There is a 199% chance that video you buy from itunes will come in that res.
Same as flash, they don't want you to get content from anywhere but them.

4:3 though, talk about crop.
It is on iTunes store, obviously. I find it funny how they don't show a 16:9 video with big black borders though.

Yeah it will go full screen - loosing half the picture. Loved the plugging of the play HD films..
Hmm HD = 720x1280.. most films are around 650x1280 due to the wider image ratio........but the screen is only 768x1024...
End result - you are watching far from even 720p. Your actually only just watching above PAL
Only reason they can get away with it all is due to the HD Ready scam of only needing 720 lines.
