I see, I take it the bottom will have some sort of apron the height of the new arches, is that how big the storage behind it will be?

yeah it will have skirts all round with integral lockers holding all our garden furniture, gas, water tanks etc. I've started on that stuff but i'll get pics up once it's done.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Fold out doesn't give as many options. I would like them to be nice and big, which fold-outs won't be.

There are four M12 bolts. The cab doesn't rest on the bolts and there are no shear forces on them either. they merely hold the two frames together. The horsebox builders use two, but we went for the four as it was just as easy and doubled the strength.

Looking really good
I take it you will be creating some form of shutters for the doors when travaling to protect them?
Will they be ok with heavy jolts etc in the road?

Yeah, there will be a GRP sheet over them which then forms the roof of the steps.

thought i spotted 4 but was just wondering. i was thinking more about it being a pain in the arse to undo them if there was any more than that!

you could design some big fold out ones that hide away behind the skirts. unless theres something going there instead

you can have big fold out steps we make them at my work all the new build brake brothers lorrys are having them but to late to add them to your box as its already on the chassis as it sits under the box and slides through the subframe of the lorry

We don't have the room under the doors to fit fold out steps, and since we are having a stage too, then we would need a huge area.
I am building a full width locker behind the rear wheels which will hold the steps and stage.
The habitation door will be having roll out steps under that.

Update:
This weekend, we didn't have loads of time to work on the wagon so not loads of progress, plus we ran out of screws on Saturday so had to wait till Sunday to get to Screwfix and the timber yard for more 45mm square.
These are the tie bars we did a few weeks back
