I just tried mine out today
It gives 1080 @30fps or 720 @60fps plus it has a standard composite video out for FPV
does that have inbuilt transmitter? if so what kind of range

no built in transmitter..
I have however been playing around with the latest ImmersionRC NexWave based 5.8Ghz stuff..
I had glitch free footage from my Quad and I went out 500 meters, turned around and came back,
Tx = £80
Rx = £50
Antennas = £40
I had to order the fat shark modular RX due to no sotck but I've preordered the full size RX and I've built a housing for the fat shark RX in the mean time so I can use it on my googgles.
Prooven range is just over 7km on a Helical antenna.
The performance has blown me away, to such an extent that I'm about to order another TX and antenna set for my plane.

What's the cam? Do you know if using a goPro 3 with usb video out to video tx for FPV will it still record footage to sd card at same time?

It's a boscam HD19.. Same specs as a white gopro 3 just a much smaller form factor and half the price.
And yes you can use the gopro output while recording, btw if you want a 10 pin usb connector to build a cable I have LOADS of them.

Take 1 nice new bottom hull
Rip all this lot off
Chop off its nose
Weigh
Cut out a section in the front for the go pro to sit, used a piece of old bottom cover to make a floor
As a result the ultrasonics need to be relocated, downwards, glued to the underside of the false floor
Camera test fitted nice and snug
Velcro strap glued in place
Next up I made a new QuadMod 'Pro' using a sport full range spektrum receiver, 1-2km range perfect for my new FPV ventures, I will also be making one more of these to auction off as a one off
Hollowed out the rear of the hull for quadmod to sit in
Piece of foam on the central cross for the motherboard to be attached too, hole in the middle above chips for ventalation
All internal electronics back in place
Bottom cover back on an 'take off' feet as DBS likes to call them, made out of spare EPP blocks to give clearance for the lower ultrasonics
One 600mw ImmersionRC FPV transmitter
Glued on to back of the Drone, this offsets the cameras weight perfectly and creates a nice balance to the drone
New weight including battery, quadmod and fpv transmitter, only 8 grams over stock!!
Drone test flown absolutely perfectly, got a nice little tail now
Got wiring for the transmitter to sort tomorrow

Looks tidy!
But: I'll eat my right bollock if you can get anywhere near 2km on your DX6i
Scrap the whip antenna on the vTX too steve, total waste of your time trying to do anything with that, get some tuned C/P antennas.

Yeah they are actually really good
Did I ever show you this Steve? This is my 'mobile setup' but I've also got a tri-pod mounted setup for long range flights.
Notice the Spironet C/P and patch

I wouldn't, they are VERY, VERY fragile.. Also its worth putting a little bit of CA and kicker between the gap on the cover and the coax to stop it twisting other wise it bends its self.
I can weight the TX C/L antenna if you like? its not very heavy.

Will try and remember later
The new SpiroNet Patch antenna is worth investing in to.. you get a 35degree beam pattern but due to its high gain the performance is excellent.
What receiver are you using? NexWave based one I assume?

Those are what I'm using the likes of blue beam and bevrc do cheaper alternatives which are also well tuned but you'll have to wait for china land shipping
Unless they are dominators and you bought them last couple of months they will have the old RX. Well worth spending the 30 odd quid on the new one, its a redesigned RX and its got a-95dbm sensetiivity which equates to almost a doubling in range on paper.

With everything you have done would it not have been cheaper to buy an more advanced thing in the first place or is this still cheaper?

You're in luck then

Not really.. The Naza GPS flight controller alone on my big boy quad costs nearly as much as an AR Drone does ready to roll.
And if you think that is bad that's just hobbyist gear, the Professional stuff that is used by movie production and surveyors is closer to a grand just for the flight controller the full setups are several thousand pounds.
