They haven't got the money for MON to turn them into one of his teams

MON has a proven track record in the Premiership, the English cups, Scotland and in Europe. What does Martinez have in comparison?

Love him or loathe him, he will be missed by most. Like Thatcher, people loved him to hate him

Why does an armchair West Ham follower have such feelings?

I'm here!
Do you lot not do any work! 14 pages!
I never expected Fergie to retire, I always expected him to die on the touchline! Amazing he has been at the club this long and has won so much. It was only a matter of time before he retired, but as he has been in the job so long you never really think it will happen!
As for his replacement, the next few days, weeks and months are going to be like the transfer gossip pages - Every big name under the sun, ex players, people that once went to Old Trafford (thats Steve out of the running), people that once wore a red football shirt will be linked with succeeding Fergie.
Moyes has been mentioned as a replacement for years due to what he has done at Everton with a small budget but I am not wholly convinced that is enough to manage United. I'm certainly not against it. OGS would be a good choice - Ex player, won the lot and has been successfully managing, albeit in a different country. Mourinho's name will be banded about all summer now but I think it is highly unlikely he will take over. I wouldn't even be surprised if they appoint a real wildcard that has quietly being managing in Europe.
If only Cosmo were still with us to let us know how this is our decline, crippling debt and how we will no longer be able to attract the big names and challenge for titles.
Still, as long as we don't get tight fisted Wenger, poor mans Mourinho that is Mancini or Rafa then I think we will be ok

I genuinely believed this would be the case.
It must have killed him to step down.

I don't think they can legally wait more than a few days without naming the new manager due to the NY stock exchange?

You would think he was dead with the constant obituaries on talksport and ssn. Still 2 weeks I'll his last game so we've got at least another 3 weeks of fergie rimming.

How so? Hearing a lot of these random statements, first I've ever heard of it.
I'd imagine the rules are being misconstrued and it actually means you cannot appoint or look to appoint a specific candidate without notifying the markets within 48 hours. They have as long as they want to appoint the fit and proper person.

It was on either Sky or bbc earlier. It might have been worded poorly but it's something to do with the bonds the Glaziers took out?
