anyone think Mourinho might be trying to put a bit of pressure on us to sell Rooney in a way just by what he's said here: "It's what he wants. It's what he asked us to accept. Chelsea Football Club is proud to act this way, in an open way, in a human way."
or am I thinking too much in to this cos they could of course just asked to do a swap deal

We wouldn't swap him now imo. Gentleman's agreement to sell rooney to them in the summer?

He will be trying to say something.
If Rooney signs a new contact it will be through his own choice, that and he is too ugly to play in spain.

Doubt they would have signed Salah if they were getting Rooney

lolwut?
Why wouldn't they? Salah is a winger isn't he? and only £12m or so... Rooney won't go in Jan, but I wouldn't be surprised if he moves in the summer, regardless of who they buy now

FFP was said they were pretty much forced to sell Mata to meet that, I bet they would be on the verge of some sort of contravention if they threw more money at rooney now

Not sure what there is to be bothered about. Mata is quality but he won't suddenly turn us in to a force again on his own

Ozil turned Giroud into a player, I'm pretty sure Mata will be more than ample to get the best out of Rooney and RVP.
United are a MUCH better team with a player like Mata in it, not only for his ability but for the rise in performances you'll see from the entire squad.
Regardless, it could have been Messi or Ronaldo, they don't have the right to complain - there is nothing to complain about.

"Chelsea will not sign off Juan Mata's £37m transfer to Manchester United until they have completed the acquisition of Mohamed Salah from FC Basle.
"The Blues have agreed a deal for Salah, but the 21-year-old Egypt midfielder must still accept personal terms, undergo a medical and receive a work permit.
"That process is not expected to be finalised for at least two days, which will delay the conclusion of Mata's move to Old Trafford.
"Chelsea have given the Spain international permission to travel to Manchester for a medical, but United will not let that go ahead until Chelsea have signed off the deal."
