Had a bit of an adventure with the 106 today

Was off to pick up a set of GTi6 brakes for it, just overtaking a van and the fucking throttle cable snapped

Had to come home 20 miles with a bit of speaker wire as my throttle

Not much has happened with the XSI recently, on hold since the throttle cable incident

Anyways, 16v throttle cable is now fitted, much better.

Rallye door cards have been fitted, much tidier now.

And I have a garage again

Will be tucked away in there untill feb/march likely.

Plans while its in there:

Interior:
Bucket seats
Manual windows
S2 door pockets
Manual mirrors
Paint rear
Grip tape on the floor

Exterior:
New boot
Paint side strips/arches etc graphite grey
Remove inner lamps on the morettes

Engine:
New loom
4 Branch manifold

If money allows, cams etc will be added, but not for now.
Raceland induction

Made a start on the stripdown tonight.

Removed the battery, headlights, ECU, and made a start on removing the loom itself. Its in such a state, I dont know how the car was running on it at all.

I keep starting jobs and leaving them and starting others though, its going to be a right mess

Need new torx bits to remove the seats, mine snapped Should be a good bit louder once the carpet is out though, loads of sound deadening under there.

Got a few more peices of interior trim out too, will all come together eventually.

Yeah me either, I attempted getting it off but it can stay for now are you stripping it to a bare shell or just stripping it to replace the loom?

Not going as far as bare shell, just tiding up all the wiring thats been bodged. If I had the whole garage Id do a near bare shell job, but Im hindered by the £££££ RS500 in the air bubble next to the car

Ahh right, thought you might be stripping it full and working your way back up, when you trim the loom let me know what wires I don't need in the back
