Was looking at them tv signal senders but not 100% sure they will work and if the main tv would have to be on (not standby) main picture.
You wouldn't be sending the signal from the TV, it'd be from the back of the skybox or whatever.
Those TV senders are shite in general, but if you do try you can't go cheap and I'd get 5.8GHz ones.

For the cost of a TV sender you could get another openbox?

I could but wouldn't I need to get wire to the sky dish outside? or could I run a splitter from the existing wiring?
Running wire from the dish will be a no no as our dish is near enough on our roof

Get an aerial guy round, £40 it'll be to get a line done from the dish. Is it a dual line one already anyway?

Neet hdmi splitter could be useful about £25 no loss in picture quality.

Anyone using the Vu+duo box?
Thinking of getting one when I get my own house!
What problems are there? Are they alright to live with day to day? 7day epg? Record stuff ok?

I've had one for a couple of months now, going well.
Very easy to live with, epg is fine, stuff records ok. Still not as polished as a sky box and I have to restart it every couple of days because you can see it slowing down a bit. Only takes a minute to restart btw, not a big deal.
I've almost got it set up so I can watch it from a rpi in the bedroom but not quite yet.
All in all good, much better than the shitty openbox I have which is very close to going on ebay.

Seriously debating a vu+ duo. Planning to ditch the sky soon, decided to have satellite broadband in the new year seeing as BT have no interest in upgrading the cabinet to fibre, bye bye Sky, I'm sick of paying £50+ a month for a shit slow service.

Where did you get yours from John? Don't want to end up with a shitty Chinese copy!
Also what "image" are you using on it?
Are there plenty of reliable servers to pick from aswell for a full sky package?

This looks awesome!
Do i need and ethernet connection at all or can i use wireless. Initially i'm putting this into the bedroom and not wanting to wire in sockets or run a cable. Or, does it depend on what box i go for.
Looks like a Christmas present for Andrew!

You can pick up a wireless attachment that will work for the skybox f3 not sure about others
I'd Ethernet it as you would prob get a lot of glitch going wireless tbh

What box do I need for the following:-
2-3 recordable tuners
HD
A smart easy use channel guide
Now I've seen a dreambox 800 but some say clone?
What are the best websites to buy a box from?

What the sort of bandwidth usage of these? Are they sending frame encryption data or does it work by session data etc?
Do you get to view the box office events?
I've decided to go for one in the bedroom as a test to see how it goes. Now just need to sort out which box.

vu+ duo does all you want ljames.
Low bandwidth, it only transmits the encryption keys, I'm sure someone checked their sharing login thing and it was X times a minute but only small transfers.
Brett and Watson will disagree, but if I was buying a test one for my bedroom again I'd spend a bit extra and get something better than an openbox, with an epg.

So there's no issue recording other channels with these (with it sharing or do I need 2 viewing subs?)
My dish is set up for sky so is that enough for sports hd?
Any legit websites and how much are vu+ duo?

Depends on who you get the sub from but mine is ok with the 2 tuners.
World of satellite I got mine from.
£270ish for a real one.
