I still managed a sprint finish at the end of the Sportive by the way. Was awesome people were there clapping the riders in. Start at finish was at the Tank Museum down here. Was nice to have that support even though they had no fucking idea who anyone was

5:19 i think. Though that includes stopping at both feed stations. Was a bit disappointed as wanted a sub 5.

Just looked it was 5:19 and 4,000ft of climbing. I said straight afterwards that I wouldn't do that one again next year but I am now thinking maybe I will. Really want that sub 5 hours.

Advice required. Getting back into cycling and have recently been going on my old Saracen MTB. Thing is i dont enjoy the offroad aspect anymore and want to get into road/ cycle path.
Having never owned a road bike before im apprehensive.
Would it be silly if i just went and bought for example a chris boardman/specialized Allez sort of bike? Or should i start out on a hybrid e.g spesh sirrus?
Dont really want to get 6 months down the line and wish i had bought the opposite.

I went from a cheap ass mountain bike to a spesh allez, best thing I did, only problem then is you always want another/better bike. It takes some getting used to riding road bikes, hybrid is the best of both worlds, I wouldn't mind a hybrid for commuting. You could always look at a cyclocross to make things more difficult
Could perhaps try getting hold of a second hand 2010 or 2011 allez for £3-400ish, in fact iirc the 2010 is a better spec, it's quite a racing orientated frame mind, the secteur is a bit more relaxed geometry wise.

I'd suggest starting with a hybrid. But you don't look as cool on one.

Ben J - on ya front wheel undo the quick release and spin it 180° just so you don't catch it on any rocks or logs or any thing ;-)
Bikes looks nice, pretty awesome spec for the price too :-)

Yep. Spotted the QR when I uploaded the pics. I had the front wheel off to bring it home and just chucked it back on.
Thanks

I did 11 miles on the bike last night then went for a 4 1/2 mile run down the sea front.
Was going to go for a swim after run as that would technically have been some kind of inside out back to front triathlon but I didn't have a towel
