Thanks alot mate.

Yea so do i,bit of a pain in arse to say I was so close to getting it up and running. If engine has to come back out I will enjoy redoing it all and making it a minter.

Things I'm considering if I do take it out :

Completely rebuild engine, everything I can replace will be replaced. At least then I'll know engines mint, doesn't leak oil, fuel or coolant.

New roose hoses (black)
Chrome water pipe
New tps,icv etc
Chrome heat shield
Belt and rocker cover redone and l piece redone
New manifold of some sort
And probs another header tank

Little update : 16.05.2012

Today i decided to go out and get a couple of the shells off to have a look at them.

Manifold off,oil drained again and sump back off.

Here's the closest and furthest away shells from the pump. The one's closest the to the pump look like they've got the most damage. Ash has had a look at the crank and doesn't look too bad, gonna give it a light rub down and just hope the new shells i'm going to order will be ok.

If the top end is still tapping abit then we'll go from there but i need to try and get rid of the big loud tapping that's coming from bottom end first. I can live with abit of tapping but still will want it doing asap.

The shells.

As you can see on the one on the left the hole where the oil should go through has abit of metal in it. It's a better weld than Ash can do.

Personally I wouldn't risk a slight rub down and get it ground so I was 100% sure but at the end of the day it's your engine

Hopefully you sort it out mate

Worth a try Ben.

If it doesn't do anything and does do a little more damage it don't matter. It'll be coming out anyways and getting it all redone.

What harms it going to do.

Your doing things by halves again Do it properly first time, do it once and once only. You can say its worth a try all you want Just whip the crank out, get reground then it will be 100%.

We'll all be saying 'told you so' if you don't do the crank

I cant say without seeing pics of the crank but personally if the crank looks ok and feels smooth and is ok with a vernier id replace the shells and try it, id be surprised if the crank needed grinding.

Just whip it out. You make out its a 10min job Jamie

What have I got to loose? If cranks ok what's the problem in changing shells? If it's still knocking elsewhere once there fitted engine will be coming out like i've said in about 5 posts.

Just let me try.
