He thought the calipers on the front were fucked because there was surface rust on them

And then, on the 3rd turn of the key, when all the lights come on the dash, EML, battery etc, he got awful worried

Poor lad, it is his first car after all.

Well got the loom off the car today, and I have to say, if I ever meet who did this conversion they are getting a headbutt, what a fucking mess

They have simply plugged the 16v loom into the car, and bodged all the wiring in the loom, hence none of the guages working.

Problem now is, I dont have a clue what the pins are on the car side of the multiplug, so its going to be a struggle to get it all matched up.

Pics of todays work:

Just some of the wiring

Now I got to try and make a good 16v loom out of these two, will be three looms in the end as I need a XSI loom too for the multiplug:

Oh, and on 106 matters, got a XSI multiplug on the way, from the same year/engine of XSI, so hopefully it will be the same plug layout

Its only the engine bay thats being rewired really, and odd wires removed from the inside. Biggest mess I have to sort is behind the headunit, holy fuck its bad behind there, a sea of chocolate blocks

Visited the scrappies today, picked up:

Manual mirrors
New door pockets (S1 Versions, no 3 door S2's in there )
Few other small peices (S1 fuse box etc for the loom)

Forgot to bring a drill to get the manual windows off, so will get them through the week. 50 miles to the scrappies, so its a fair trek.

Progress

Seats & carpet are out:

Trimmed my raceland induction:

Manual mirrors, might do the caps in graphite grey:

Made a start on the new loom today, pretty damn confusing as ive got to make 1 good loom from 2x 16v looms, and a XSI loom. Should figure it out though.

Cheers all.

Quickshift has been ordered, need to buy buckets and subframes yet though. Not much left to do on the inside, give it a lick of paint, fit manual windows and buckets, maybe relocate the battery. Expensive to stick it in the boot though, as it needs to be a sealed type for the MOT
