Not really related but found some pics of my old white Nova GSi on photobucket.
I sold this to buy my original Corsa GSi and actually spent less buying the Corsa than I sold the Nova for, a rare thing in 2002/3.
Bit of reverse rake going on here, before the days of affordable coilovers so -60mm on the front and -80mm on the rear
I have more at home, will try and find them

Yeah it was awesome, was amazingly clean and so white. I guess it prepared me for getting my Corsa GSi all cleaned up as I remembered the difference once I had really freshened that up. It ended up with black bumper strips rather than red and had an insanely deep Seat Cordoba? splitter on
I'll have to chuck some pictures up of some of my previous Nova's as I had...
Nova 1.3 SR
Nova 1.4 SR
Nova GTE
Nova GSi (Silk Voilet)
Nova GSi (White)
Nova 1.4 SRi - I paid £250 for this (well went halves so it actually cost me £125) and it was mega clean!

MOT day today, sadly it failed but I didn't really expect it to pass fist time
Good news is that it's just a few bits and bobs really, no failures or advisories for rot which is the main thing for me
So this week I have to sort..
Nearside bottom ball joint needs replacing
Hazard switch needs replacing
Emissions are too high so going to replace the lambda sensor
Also need to replace a worn bush in one of the front shocks, not sure what this entails or if the part is available, I have emailed SPAX to try and get the information needed. Worst case scenerio is I need two front coilovers.
Not to bad at all considering the age of the car

In the garage and ready to get the new bits fitted for the retest ASAP!
Hoped to do more today but the top mount doesn't want to undo, it's a SPAX Coilover and has the damping adjuster on the top, hoping a deep 19mm socket on my impact gun will work tomorrow.

Deep impact socket is your friend Ian. I used one to both loosen and tighten the top mount bolts, whipped it straight off.

Hopefully mate, my impact gun is a mains powered one though and doesn't contain much oomph! If all else fails I will pass it to my mate who will remove it for me with his proper gun

Started on getting the jobs done last night...
Firstly, fixed my hazard switch. Didn't take much, front part didn't seem to be clicked on properly so easy fix!
Finally managed to get the top mount off the coilover, this was well stuck on and being damping adjustable means it has an adjuster on the top of the shock so you can't really get a decent hold of it to keep it from moving, either way I managed it in the end!
Been on a few years I think...
Bump stop looked like this
Replaced it with a standard GM one for now, got a new top mount being delivered today to finish it off, looks a little better after a clean.
As ratty as they look they actual adjust really easily! Maybe I'll give them a repaint sometime
Next job was the Lambda, got the current one free and finger tight so this should be nice and easy to do tonight.
Final job was to remove the bottom ball joint, this is where it went pear shaped, got the nut off the pinch bolt but the bolt is stuck solid. Following the advice on here I am going to pick up my punch from my parents tonight then give it a smack - hopefully it will release so I can swap the ball joint and then the MOT work is completed ready for the retest this weekend.

Finished all the jobs last night and the car is running so well I have never felt like the car was particular quick but I put that down to me being to used to driving my daily TT which is 2.5 times the power of the Corsa
Fitted my new ball joint, bump stop and top mount then changed the lambda hoping that is the cause of the high emissions, took it for a drive and it's like a new car Seems so much more responsive in every gear, just wants to go so I am pretty confident that the old lambda had been failing for a while as it was also smelling of fuel a bit recently. Really wanted to bring it to work today but decided against it as it's just my luck I will get pulled with no MOT.
Also leveled up the front coilovers as the passenger side sat a little higher.
Hopefully I will get chance to give it a clean after work as it's filthy.

Gave it a clean tonight, hadn't been washed since Billing and been used a few times since then. Downside of white is that it looks very dirty very easily! Took a few pictures to show the shine still locked in
Fingers crossed it passes the MOT retest on Saturday as I want to drive it

Failed the MOT again Turns out my coilovers are actually fucked and need rebuilding Need to decide what ones to buy now also needs a cat.
Could do without it as i'm away for 2.5 weeks from Wednesday so unless I get it sorted by then I will have to pay for a full MOT again when I am back
Tempted to stick my standard shocks on and try and get a cat sorted Monday just to get it through, deal with the coilovers over the winter.

a lot of people change their lambdas when the emissions are high as they think thats the cause, the odd time it might be but usually if the lambda brings up a fault code its only because its doing its job and the issue lies elsewhere. or if a lambda has been failing for a while it ends up fucking the cat.

Won't have a fault code, the lambda reading on the emissions print out will be too high that's why it will have failed

I find with the older vauxhalls and fords too I have to hold the revs a bit higher than usual on the test then they drop in normally
