Sorry to hijack but I can get wheels retrieved for anyone that wants one doing, Bentley leather as the guy works in the factory VERY high standard. Supply him with suede and he can do them too.
Just Incase anyone needs one doing!

Believe me it does feel longer than that lol. It hasn't even left the depot near Nurburg yet, there is no date set for it to be picked up. I was told I would be told when things are moving but so far I have heard nothing. Might ring them tomorrow, but ringing France is expensive to keep chasing them. (RAC France are dealing with it)

I accept these things take time but it most depresses me knowing when it finally gets back it's still broken and that will take more time
And I've also missed out on Combe now and probably going to miss out on BHP show at Lydden too

No idea at all, depends on the damage. Minimum £500 as that's the rough cost of taking the head off.

Fuck knows I didn't fit them annoys me seeing her put shit pads on what is essentially a 'performance' car but if I start paying to put what I'd put on there I'll end up modding 2 cars

Well I found out tonight when my mate rang me to tell me there's pictures of my car in pieces on facebook, that my car is back in the UK and been taken apart. Considering the RAC told me they'd ring me when it was scheduled to be picked up I was a bit pissed off, but then I was happy it's back, and then when I saw the damage I'm pissed off again
Haven't spoken to Martyn yet so still not entirely sure on what damage there is to the bore as that's the decider of a new engine or not really, but you can see from the pictures I need a new head & piston at minimum.
Looks like a component failure, bit of the valve cracked off. Dale works for BMW and he rang me & said he's never seen that happen before, so I'm sort of happy in a way that there's nothing I could have done to change that, I'm just unlucky! Going to see the car in the morning hopefully and consider my options.

Ouch. It wouldnt surprise me if it was the end of the spark plug coming away that did that.
Feel for you though as thats not going to be a cheap repair

valve seats ok?
Thats what one of my C20XE builds looked like after it had dropped/snapped part of a valve guide.
mash mash mash
You could maybe repair the head..... but not sure it would be worth it.
How much are drop in engines from breakers?

Well I briefly spoke to the guy today but they're not open. He said he's going to send the head for inspection, when I said it looks mangled though he said it looks worse than it is. So we shall see. Said he only got it apart as they were closing so hasn't properly inspected it yet. He said the bore 'looks ok' but hasn't properly checked yet. Basically said it looks worse than it is but I still don't wanna get my hopes up too much.
Engines on eBay are £2300 upwards. Although my mate found this one but it seems too cheap :s

so the French RAC collected the car off you in Germany, Took it to a depot then it sat there for a while before being delivered to the garage of your destination?
