Quick 3rd person video showing the DJI F450 doing a GPS Return to Home, and how accurately it does this.
No control input after RTH selected apart from the end to shut the motors down

That's very cool Steve, wish I could justify buying one.
What happens if something has happened which causes it to rth, then it either lands in the wrong place, or something happens to stop you waiting for it, and there is a person standing in the way?

Looking good
You got lucky with your landing If possible try and take over by switching between atti/GPS because sometimes the auto land can get a bit 'messy'

the AR drone wouldnt harm anything, as it has hardly any power and the props cut out, this thing is a whole different ball game

Davey what are your figures for your voltage monitor settings?
I run a 2220mah battery 3s
Set current voltage of a fresh charged battery to 12.3v as tested by multimeter
First level protection
11.50v - 0.70 = Loaded: 10.80v
Second Level
11.0v - 0.70 = Loaded: 10.30v

Just remember the EzOSD doesn't have a magnetic compass so don't rely to much on the home arrow

Just watched the vid.. good stuff.. and it sounds EXACTLY the same as mine with that strange whine/grumble. Your challenge is to work out WTF it is

ahh ok cool, i think the main thing i want it for is the battery level info.
odd question, and i know it totally depends on the tree, but how high do you reckon those trees are in that vid that i fly over? reason i ask is because say i was to continue going purely in the name of testing my range, i would be kind of safe in the knowledge when it does lose it will return home, but it rises only to 20m high as you know. Reckon that would be enough to clear the tree lines?

So today I set about pushing as long a flight as i dared without the OSD battery information, the results were about 1km each way so a 2km flight in all, not bad going and iv still got my nexwave receiver coming for the goggles, god knows how much past 1km it will go then, only one way to find out.
Heres the 2km video from today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZyzEOiG2YI&hd=1
In other news my ImmersionRC ezOSD kit turned up, features of this are
- Simple, uncluttered display, just the essentials. ‘Which way is home’, and ‘how long can I stay up here’.
- Warnings for low battery voltage, pack capacity reached, too high, too far, etc.
- Periodic Amateur radio callsign broadcast, to comply with FCC regulations.
- OSD control from a spare servo channel (optional), or by direct link to the EzUHF Rx.
- Intuitive menu system, with onboard menu buttons
- After-flight debriefing, shows a summary of the flight: Max. altitude, max. distance, max. speed, average speed, distance flown, etc.
Set about attaching it the best way possible, please note this will all be coming off again anyway as im going to rebuild with a new bottom plate to redo the solders and make everything neater
You can see the main unit which contains the GPS unit on the front right hand arm
I attached the seperate current sensor under the drone here, this gives me a battery level and amps readout on the OSD
When placed down it makes attaching the battery nice and easy too
I tried to photograph best I could the goggles to give you a rough idea of the OSD readout
