i dont get why people say its ameture  .
its still an amazing thing to have built something that could a) get there and b) keep felix safe.

It's just jumping out a balloon, its not like thousands of people have tried to do it and failed or wimped out at a certain height.
He was given the opportunity and took it, i just can't see that its an achievement like running a distance in a record time.
Like the 1st monkey in space, was that an achievement for the monkey? Neil armstrong didn't achieve the man on the moon thing, he just was!

Almost as ameture as that attempt at spelling 
It was amateur in that it wasn't professional at all. Very unorganised, there was a distinct lack of leadership and direction hence the massive overspend and the duration of time it took.
It also appeared to be being constructed in someone's garage, he used the wrong handle and cut away his reserve chute on a test jump almost killing himself and even something simple as his face heaters stopped working on the actual jump.
I was wondering why NASA never had any significant input other than to say they were interested in the results and it became apparent why very quickly after watching the documentary.
