New clutch - ACT 6puk padle 'extreme'... good for something like 600lbft+

AVC-R to be fittted - to replace the Blitz SBC that seems to strugle to hold the boost.

Got some comparison plots from the guys at WP

MDX 321V (1.4bar) vs AFP TD05 20G (1.8bar)

The biggest difference is from the swap to the AVC-R! The car is now holding boost (not sure how much its had to ramp up the duty to do so though ) all the way up the revs compared to the burst balloon it was impersonating before (Blitz SBC). The car had always felt very revvy like an NA up the revs compared to feeling like a turbo'd car. Should really notice this change on track - much better torque spread, 310lbft at 6500rpm compared to 270lbft at 6500rpm with the 20G.

Will be interesting to see what it does at 2.0 bar, then 2bar whatever on race fuel/meth Maybe get the anti-lag sorted out too

:drive:

brooooom brooooooooom pop pop (pass Fee) brroooooom bang bang bang pop (wave)

its my first race (grid start, door to door saloon racing) and the little carbon ones are not the best for visibility!

Fine for TA where you know cars are behind you but they never really get into the side/blindspots.

Rear wing was changed to meet with class regulations.

Some thoughts now that I have actually driven the car with a bit more power and in a race situation over a sustained period.

The car (engine) felt MUCH better on the sunday with the cooler ambient temps and denser air. As the day/laps totted up on Sat (sunny day at KH) the car was just beggining to feel a bit 'slower' or flatter. It wasnt a huge difference but I wasnt sure if it was just me getting used to the extra poke. So.... this kinda still points to the FMIC getting too hot OR the under bonnet temps getting pretty toasty for some reason. Oil temps were perfect after 18 hot laps!!!!! max of 93deg.

brakes - Held up fine but could feel them getting a bit tired after 18laps they were fine again on Sunday in the wet. Only 1 or 2 wee moments on the sat where i just couldnt slow it down enough and ran a bit deeper into the corner, only resulted in 1 car passing.

Tyres - shagged before I even raced on them ! The tread is fine as I wasnt sliding around much for once. They lasted well for the first 5 laps of the dry race then just turned to the usual poop. In the damp they were pretty good for 80% of the race.

Turbo - whilst it now runs a bigger turbo it seems to have lost none of its response MDX 321V

So, possible improvements...

Bigger, Better IC - Matty, can you sort the ETS one
Bigger discs - currently running 330mm so may prove worhwhile to just switch to 356mm and get some new mounts for the calipers machined up.
Sort out some cooling ducts for the calipers, discs.
Lose lots of weight off the car - long overdue! GRP doors, lexan windows - easy 50kg saving.
Wider track - I have another 10mm or so to use in the arches May look into bigger spacers as I'm already at the max rim width for SMRC regs.

I got the car weighed at scruitineering (just asked them nicely). This is with about half a tank of fuel (guess 20l), 1 seat and harness & NO DRIVER.

some updates....

Race results:

SMRC - 1st in class
SMRC - 1st in class
KMSC - 3rd in class
KMSC - 1st in class

Last time out (race 1 KMSC Modified Saloons) wasnt the best Car felt majorly down on power but still managed a PB laptime for the car despite being 9mph down on the straights. I'd revereted to my usual corner approach and attacked a bit more... still showed to be a bit ghey braking into the hairpin. Think it might just be heat soak or a daftly positioned air temp sensor thats getting wonky readings and retarding the ignition.

Rear LSD is well worn now and feel it spinning away drive on exit of hairpin.

Synchros are complaining on rushed high rev downshifts.

Front splitter/bumper came loose during race 1 resulting in a pit stop on a 20lap race never good. Finished 3rd in class from pitting in from 1st

Plans - 100% need to get it lighter and running its potential power that it should be running.... I'm sick of getting destroyed on every straight

Rear OSR strut buckled like a banana, off to EXE-TC for repair. I should really take less kerb from now on.

Some pics and vids from last race

race 1

front end starting to go to shit after hitting kerbs a bit too much. I'd lowered the leadign edge about 5mm just before the start - must have just been too much

race 2

no splitter left and fecked raer susp
