I would certainly pick it up, the step Lee has missed though is phoning the owner to arrange collection. I've no doubt at all that the next person on the bus would steal it as well, but Lee has the phone and is able to look through the phone book and phone the right person. He failed to do so.
And for the record, living a life on the dole and being involved in petty theft says more about the person who are than a phone on a bus.
We've talked about the phone and I'm clear - it should be returned. There's no logical reason why this is difficult.
We're also talked about Lees attitude to life which is an entirely bigger issue but equally worrying. I'm not about to speculate where he's ending up but I'm also sure this 'sit back, thats how I am' outlook is at best lazy and at worse completely contemptuous towards the people who are trying to basically help him out of being an immoral thief.

In other words, you are of the opinion that Lee is dole scum and there is no hope left for him?

ian, yes we know what im like by now and i know that it was the immoral thing to do but as iv said before, what u say isnt going to change the way i am, people have told me time and time again and i am yet to change (tho i am an improvement than how i used to be by a long way). i will one day grow up but until then i am still going to say that if i find a phone on a bus i will take it
but thanks for ur advise and maybe/hoepfully one day i will act on it

If you were walking through a park, with no one around and u found it, then it wouldnt be as bad.
If u see the owner on the bus, then realise they have left it on a seat, and that they are trying to stop the bus to get it back then yes it is theft
Should still call the owner and arrange for it to be returned mr leg

I'm clear - he is able to return it and hasn't.
Theft - intent to permanently deprive - he's decided to not give it back.

True spirit of Christmas. Steal someones phone. Its no different than taking a phone if someone puts it on a desk to get something out of their bag or something. An old nokia is worth jack shit these days, but to the owner its content could be irreplacable and priceless. What if they had a photo of someone close to them or a family pet that has passed on? A video of their kids first word? A telephone number for a girl they've spent the last three months trying to get?
Put yourself in their shoes in that situation, you'd be destroyed and you know it.
Am not gonna pass judgement on you cos I don't know you, and you don't need it from me but I proper respect people who do the right thing. I know people on here would respect you. All you need to do is call or text them from their phone at no cost to you and get them to collect it. It might turn out they don't even want it and let you keep it, or it may be that they collect and give you a reward which will go to buy something you'd prefer more.
Its up to you though, if you're lazy and want to keep it then thats the way you are and you aren't gonna change, so enjoy your new phone. On the otherhand you can do the right thing and maybe make someones christmas a good one.
