Update 21/4/08

My luggage rack arrived this morning. Its meant for the boot lid on a soft top sports car like an MX-5, so it need a little modification in the form of making it sit lower to the roof and extending.

After the advice Ed gave about it having a zinc coating i had to sand down the bonnet this morning, as it wasn't rusting the way i wanted it to.

The front part is doing ok though. Hopefully the rest will catch up now its been keyed in.

Also had my wheels done to match the bodywork. Hopefully i'll have pics later.

wheels look much better.

only thing is the roof rack looks too small to pull off but i'll reserve judgement until it's finished as everything else has worked so far

love it more and more think the bonnet will suit it but not so sure about the rack atm.. but i think once you've made the changes you said (longer and lower) then it will look alot better, just looks a bit small atm imo

Ben, yeah i know its a bit on the small side at the moment. I've got a couple of plans, one of which is by making it longer and also making it look a little more retro looking. I'll see what i can do tonight at work if its quiet

I think you'll pull off the rusty bonnet look on this car. But the roof rack isn't going to work on it...

I don't mind people making negative comments, as i don't expect everyone to like it. People have said, "don't like this idea" etc, which is fine, but going on about the same subject over and over with attempts at humour was ruining it. If people have a continued problem with what i'm doing u2u or MSN me

Thanks also Matt

are there any plans to change the rear lights?

Rest of the car is all tip top and the bonnet and rack will go with the car but the lights let it down for me!

I quite like them. What do you suggest? I can't afford/justify £200 on MHW's/Irmscher smoked lenses. I did think about South African ones, but not sure they'd go?
