Good man I'll take a look when I get back from work later, will it be going 16v?
Gearknob turned up today, it's tiny smaller than I expected but that's ok. I'll spray it matt black then fit it.

Yeah, poverty spec interior though?
I suppose that won't matter if you're ripping it out.

Must of started life as a 1.4 XSI, thats the 1.4 interior anyways. True, it will all be getting ripped out, im going to get it depending on what admiral say for a multicar quote for a 306 and the XSI, if its about the same as the GTI insurance, ill do it.

Shame you sold all the engine and everything off the old one, you could have just bought a cheap 1.4xsi or a 1.6 like mine.

It fucking is IT weighs fuck all, I thought it would be loads bigger but it fits in the palm of my hand nicely
One small issue though, it wont fit the threads of the gear stick so I'm going to file the inside of the gear knob until it's just a bit small for it then heat the gear stick up and force it on, along with some sort of glue. Once it's cooled down it won't budge.

Not yet, I see no need with a next to standard engine and this engine won't be getting anymore than the pugsport and forced induction kit. When it gets a 16v I'll get some Group N mounts aswell as pollybushing everything

The gear stick is one piece of metal, heating it up will allow me to push the plastic knob over it then when it cools it will be bonded as the hole in the gear knob is slightly smaller than the gear stick

I still don't get it
you mean it will kind of melt the inner bore on the knob?

Sort of, yes. The thread on the gear stick is a funny shape so it will essentially mould that shape in to the plastic gear knob then when it cools it will be solid, I've done it before on my old XSI with another gear knob. It worked a treat.

That sounds extremely painful.

The quickshift stopped that mate, hardly any travel in the gear changes now and room for more adjustment if I require it. Yes, well XSI but they are basically the same
