I've ridden there. It's good if you like trail centres. I prefer to stick to the bridle ways myself.

Crashed last time I was at Whinlatter

Werewolf does seem nearly vertical when you are at the top, I find it best to just carry as much speed as I can, and I tend to go from the top left, worst bit about it is the quick turn at the bottom..

Ben - how wide are your bars? Mine are 760mm and I fit through fine..

I think you get to a point where you decide if you prefer the natural stuff or trail centres after a while. I know a few people that only ride trail centres.

And by bridle ways I don't mean tracks across a grassy field, I mean going over Coniston Old Man or down Skiddaw lol

Everyone needs to ride natural stuff to hone in skills etc. Not knowing what is round the corner keeps you sharp. Trail centres, where they can't be too extreme for liability sakes, can make you a bit stagnant.

Saying that, they're good for people to build skills who aren't experienced!

Can't help but think some people should learn to ride bikes by doing local XC before trying the tough stuff.

I started riding 15 years ago if not more and trail centres or bike parks didn't exist.

And Iike riding to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Trail centres often get too bust and rat facet.

We do a lovely ride in the Brecon Beacons and park in a really small village and barely see a soul all day.

Tis lovely.

Thing I don't like about trail centres is a lot of them are aimed at jumping. And the way the trails are built seems to egg you on to go faster and faster till you pass your limit and bin it big style like me and end up in hospital natural stuff consequences are worse if you stuff it but you're more aware that a mistake is going to potentially send you down the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere so treat it with a bit more respect. I like the big technical rocky descents you get round here, they are more my thing. I do ride trail centres now and then though

Nic, Kirroughtree is worth a trip up to. That is the best trail centre I've ever ridden at. It's absolutely epic. 31k of single track. 3-4 hours of riding. Over the border then head west past Dumfries, maybe a couple of hours from Carlisle

Me and mwg would get on just fine.

It is all about respect but people seem to forget this at trail centres.

Can't beat a natural rocky decent in The Peaks or Wales (I live a bit too far from Scotland).

do different types of brake pads make a difference? or is the the rest of the brake set up that makes a difference?

got me thinking today as i need to go clean/adjust mine as the rear one started squeking whilst I was out today, mine have never felt particularly good so wondered if different pads would help.
