I checked out the new trail at Cwm Carn on Saturday. Filthy weather and even filthier trail! Still struggling to get fitness back after xmas, did the twrch original trail and then the new one after. 500m of climbing, and it felt every bit of that in the mud. It's a lot more natural than the original trail so less hard packed...which means more mud. Some good downhill sections but by the time I got to them I was knakered! Will revisit when drier. Was a good first outing for my new forks though

I'm away on my hols last two weeks in august mind!
Video of yesterdays Strava fail ride. Falling out with my bike it's slipping about so much. At one point I stopped as I actually thought I'd had a blow out it was that bad. I hadn't but it gives and idea of how fucking crap it feels at the moment.

So after last nights car crash fun I took loads of anti inflammatory and went to bed with an inch of deep heat on my back - felt very lucky this morning when I woke up feeling a bit battered but otherwise fine .... so I manned up and cycled 100 miles today!..... The third time I have completed a century ride but this is the first one that involved any hills - 4300 ft of climbing in total. Average speed was just over 13mph for the trip and moving speed was just over 15mph ... top speed was a rather stupid but very fun 51.1 mph on chain hill, fully loaded bike with a tail wind! Actually don't feel too bad now which is a massive confidence boost - that is the longest ride I have ever done, by far the most climbing in one ride and on the back of a car crash and with a slight head cold too...got to be happy with that. New bar bag seems pretty awesome - just big enough to fill with food, drugs and electrics but doesnt really effect the handling much at all. Weather was a bit shit to start with but turned nicer as the ride went on - was nice to have the sun on my back for a change although the wind was ever present and in my face for the first 50 miles or so which involved most of the climbing. All in all im very happy to have got out today after yesterday and to stick in a 100 miler is a nice feeling. Plan is to go out tomorrow too to get used to back to back long rides but im gonna have to pick up a courtesy car at some point so that might limit me - as could my back which is getting pretty tight again now I have stopped. It really is a stunning place to cycle around her when the sun is out! Heres a few pics of what I am now calling "The Whiplash 100 sportive

i had a new experience today. snapped a chain for the first time ever. clearly just too much power on the uplift service. also got a 34th place on a descent today, which tbh, as i ride an xc bike, I'm well happy with!!

55 Miles today with club - that's 158 miles in last 2 days. Was running pretty empty towards the end today but felt surprisingly good considering that's the first time I have done proper back to back long rides.......Now to go resume my head cold and go get a courtesy car!

My legs were actually really good to uplift on this bike on the sunday it climbs realky well. The bus uplift isactually really good we done about 9 runs down which is about 18 miles and then its roughly about the same distance up if you wanted no uplift if you followed the xc trail up the uplift bus takes 10 mins or so to get to the top
