Just had similar to that happen to me, but was a Chinook helicopter not a goose.
Will get the dashcam downloaded to prove this happened.

A chinook landed in the road?
We have them go over our house on weekends, always flown in tandem. The noise they make is incredible.

When I was a kid we had a flood scare, house backed onto the school playing field and Chinooks came in and out all weekend dropping off sandbags. Fucking epic, I'll never forget it.

Saw loads of Defenders and old Discos driving through big puddles and floods in Chertsey, Weighbridge, Datchet and Staines this afternoon.

Some more bits turned up
Here is a Timing belt case breather kit, a genuine rocker cover gasket, some landrover sealant, and a 5 way manifold for the breather pipes
Heres an idea im using for the timing case breather hole, and the transmission case breather, they are pneumatic air hose bleeders with the correct bsp thread for the breather holes
The idea behind these is I can leave them open in times when I know im not going to be driving through water e.g not now lol, and close them up for wet flood times. Means I don't have to faff around removing fixed ones with a spanner and can loosen them to drain water or residue build ups with my hands any time. They basically act like taps.
Im replacing the rocker and inlet gaskets at the weekend so hopefully some better updates then

Forgive me for the questions but I'm not that clued up on these! The transmission and timing case breathers basically waterproof the sections they fit into? Was this not a standard thing with them from the off, being a 4wd? Is the tubing you have going to be attached to the breathers and routed up to a higher location to allow them to be open all the time regardless of floods or not? Also, with a snorkel fitted is that all that needs to be added to make it kind of "semi amphibious"?

As standard those two breather holes are left open. This is why they only recommend 500mm wading depth as standard. The holes are threaded though so you can seal if you wish easily.
Yeah the axle and timing breathers will be run and taken up by the snorkel.
And yeah the snorkel with breather extensions and wading plugs is all you need really. Some people fit a wading blanket to the front grill

Ah ok, I remember reading the 500mm wading bit now!

The wading depth is because of the air intake. Plugs are to stop your motor getting full of shit. You can without them.
What style snorkel have you gone for?

going back to this,
Its not always about air intakes and various breathers,
You've got to remember
to move that much water takes alot of effort could be 2-3 tons.
on slippy ground.
In a relatively well sealed with a fair amount of air inside giving it some buoyancy.
Most of the land rovers will do more than standard, the risk isnt to the engine and diffs its more the chances of loosing traction and getting stuck

Bit of an eventful day
Set about doing these gaskets, first up the inlet/exhaust manifold
Heres the new gasket
Engine cover removed
Removing the inlet manifold
4 bolts altogether I think
Once removed you can see straight away where its leaking, common issue im told
Cleaned up the inlet manifold a bit
Removed the exhaust manifold and cleaned up
The old gasket and where it split
And then I had to stop because the wind blew the bonnet shut and the latch hit my had and ripped into it
So a nice trip to A&E, and some bandages is where I must leave it for a week

A&E? Just wash it and wrap it up. From that picture it doesn't look too bad.
