Bet he scores no more than 3 goals this season
In all competitions or league? Either way i'll take that bet. £20?

Got to take what you can get these days i'm afraid. You can't compete for top players any more sadly (and i do mean that).

not at all, just got to be sensible. the only issue we have really is wages (the fallout form man city imo, chelsea brought huge fees, city have brought daftw ages and priced everyoine out - spurs and arsenal esp suffer form this, liverpool seme happy to pay a little more)
the issue is we've left it until the last 3 days to sign a striker - and whats the ctaalyst? noithing, he said bendtner will leave byt he hasnt gone yet and in any case hes been saying it all summer so why now decide to sign some shite striker from france

Now linked with Juan Vargas from Fiorentina. Not going to judge him as know nothign of him but this just proves how depsrate we seem to be (could just be media nonsense of course0 but we really shoudlnt be being linked wioth so many players at this stage! should have a firm target in mind (and it should be hazard!) but this is nonsense now

The arrogance of an English football fan. A 75 times capped first pick German international or a 3 times capped, at least 5th choice English one.
For half the price.

Bit early for QPR to be preparing their squad for the Championship isnt it?!

OptaFranz
7 - Bremen have won only 1 of their last 7 Bundesliga games without Mertesacker (5 defeats), conceding 19 goals. Loss.
70.2% - Mertesacker has won 70.2% of duels since 07/08, only Vidic has done better in top 5 Euro leagues (min 500 duels won). Clash.
You're getting a 6ft 6 giant and a captain. If i was an Arsenal fan i'd be over the moon with this signing over cahill.

Last time I checked £8-9m is not half of £10-12m which is what I fully suspect Bolton will sell for, once they realise he'll leave in a year for free.
ALso i prefer to see the other side of the story, declining (due to injury?) foreigner whos not played in the PL and is not hugely mobile (but is huge lol) vs an improving soon to be regular intl starter with bags of PL experience and is english (despit it all, we DO like to see english player sin our team) who can slot in immediately and offer more of a threat.
dont get me wrong, mertesacker is a good signing but id rathe rhave cahill first for more money then flog squillachi and bring in mertesacker (dont rule thius out happening accordsing to young guns blog)

Only thing Cahill has going for him over Mertesacker is the fact he's played in the league.

Arsenal need a leader, mertesacker (sp) is that.
I haven't seen anything of this brazilian LB, but i have read he is great going forward, terrible in defence, surely that is no use to arsenal?

Scott Parker has handed in a transfer request. Seems a bit weird as they were obviously trying to sell him anyway. Seems a weird thing to do. Although as one person i've read has said, he should now void any bonuses and loyalty payments which is good for west ham. Got him replaced already anyway so as long as we get 5m+ i'm happy. The guy deserves to be in the prem and has served the team better than anyone else in the last few years!

I can't really see why any Arsenal fan would want Cahill over a first choice International for a far superior nation? And that is not bait He is the sort of tower Arsenal have missed since the Adams/Keown days.
