And Fads, u'd be suprised, i bet on test with the right amount of road ud crack 135mph! Corsa doesn't weigh more than an astra GTE. Just been reading up on the Astra weight. As standard, even hevier than mine, and mines a lot heavier than yours

Astra GTE's are no way heavier than corsas they are basically sardine cans, corsa's have all the saftey deviceswhich GTE's didnt have such as crash bars, side impact bars, heavier trim etc and doubled skined wings etc astras were more raw and i asure u they weighed less than corsas.

Also fads, if they were lioghter, then why can a Corsa with a standard XE beat a standard GTE up the strip? = Weight!!!

GTE is heavier! I assure you.

Right, Adam Kindness "the bucket" Just been told that the standard limiter is 6800rpm?? Mines 7000rpm? So got both readings. This is presuming his car is running 195/45/15 tyres.

it would be 140mph at 6800, or 144mph at 7000

(This is a redtop, on 15"s, tyres mentioned above, F20 gb).

Just prooves now a corsa can do over 140mph

Craigpcg's 2.0 Turbo went past me doing over 135, cause i was at 135 against the limiter in 306 Turbo.

AS said

Max speed possible on F20 on 15"s at 6800rpm is 140mph
Max speed at 7000rpm is 144mph.

A corsa 2.0 is a tad lighter than a GTE 2.0, both in standard form. Corsa would probably weigh in at 960-980KG's without A/C etc and the GTE would be around 1050-1100KG's.

Quicker than you?

Na, i dont have the power/torque to beat the mighty Punto GT but the Rallye's light so it gets off the line fast with the 048R's fitted.

My best 0-60mph timed (using speedo/stopwatch) using larger rolling radius tyres than standard is 6.1 but i had a full tank of fuel at the time, rear seat/spare wheel were removed at the time too.

So i'd guess at mid 6's to 60 in real money.

Pass me your new timing gismo and we'll find out for sure.

Regarding top speed, areodynamics is more important than 100-150kg's in weight and as it happens the Mk2 Astra and Calibra are 2 slippery mothers of cars in a wind tunnel.

The Corsa is not very areodynamic, my old car was trying to take off at over 130mph, it started to veer left/right about 10-15ft at Brunters.

And remember your speedo aint very accurate.
