SBD cams, throttle bodies, 4,2,1,manifold, and pistons. Fully ported and flowed head with stainless valves, SBD springs, caps and verniers. Ali flywheel, F15 box with straight cut Quaiffe gears and diff, 2 litre Astra clutch with a paddle centre plate.
All set up by SBD.
Now rebuilding with bigger cams, solid followers, and twin springs; should make at least 190 bhp.

I was looking at tuning my 1.6 engine (corsa gsi) but decided it would be more cost effective to put in a 20xe

depends what ur after, id rather have a tuned 1.6 than a 2.0ltr, for 4 reasons, you can get a 1.6 16v up to 2.0ltr bhjp, not quite torque, for cheap money, cheaper to insure a 1.6, a 1.6 will handle better in the long run, and a 1.6 will sell better than a 2.0ltr i believe, easier to put ot standard and sell tuning bits extra etc!
u also got your 2.0ltr set up quite cheap didnt you?

well true... but at a later date i'll modify the 20xe and take it out of reach of what the 1.6 is capable of with sensible money. Insurane wasn't really a factor in the equation as i'll be paying £430 tpft and im not bothered about selling it either, will hang on to it and play with it
and as for "u also got your 2.0ltr set up quite cheap didnt you?" well im still in the middle of putting it in.. been having loads of problems but getting there slowly, the shite weather isn't helping much!

stokie dave? i have a mate called dave yea... thats probably him
and yea... ive got a mate helping me but he aint done a big block conversion before. Having almost done it once i would definately do things a bit differently and it would certainly be easier next time. I'll have to write up my experiences with the conversion for anyone else considering a 20xe lump up front

Keith Piper - What sort of RPM are you going to? I imagin your also using steel rods and maybe crank?
Mines an everyday car and behaves like one
Andy, you've got to be breaking easily into the 13's at pod
Have you got an LSD? Im thinking about getting the quaife atb lsd but Im not sure if its worth the £500.

Hi MIles - I have the Tran-X plate diff. A few notes cheaper then the Quaife LSD and seems to get round corners well enough. However, when it's fitted, there's no room for an elctronic speedo ring sensor, so unless you have a cable speedo, you'll need another speedo. The Quaife doesn't have this problem (I think)I'm not convinced that an LSD makes a huge difference from a standing start - eg in a quarter miler - but it certainly helps you to get the power down coming out of corners and on uneven road surfaces.

Keith - that's a superb figure for a 1.4. Can we expect to see your beastie at a meeting sometime in 2004?

Confirmed you can still use the eloctronic speedo with the quife atb lsd as my speedo works fine with that set up.
