have you checked that the handbrake cable is releasing the back brakes fully, as if it it isnt then maybe the light would stay on?dont know if it will help m8. good luck

just a little point.... as the breaking system is a sealed system, as in the fluid can't go anywhere other than pushing pistons or wheel cyliders, if the fluid gets low enough to be turning on the warning light it suggests the pads are low, or there is a leak on the system somewhere.
Best not to just top up brake fluid without checking for pad wear and leaks at the same time
