I didn't read this.
If it didn't come with the cat it will be a 20XE. You wont need the cat. If they dont belive you, get them to check the engine number and watch them eat humble pie when all the details come through.
My speedo also did not work at the MOT either.

The chance you have to take. If a stolen engine has been bought then i'd advise spending £350 and buying another one

I'm Sales manager for a Legal company that specialise in the motor trade basically we help dealers who get in trouble with trading standards etc... but i can't ask questions bout my car cos if they knew the score with my car i'd be in a fair amount of trouble!!hehe

It definately goes off the age of the engine, no need to ring anyone, its there in the testers manual.
If they argue just get them to show you the manual, its all in there.

I would be more worried about the engine than the MOT at the moment. Technically, your insurance is void, have an accident and you'll be in the sh*t.

S&T Autos in Berkhamsted (just inside Hertfordshire past Dunstable)...
They did mine, phoned ministry and gave them the engine model code and they said it's fine... Even without supporting paper work as I don't know where my engine's from...
Even wrote me out a seperate sheet incase I get roadside tested by an arsey copper...
