The CRX's had a few engines. The most common were the 1.6 16v (105ish bhp), the 1.6 16v Single Cam Vtec (125ish bhp) and the 1.6 16v VTI (with 150-158bhp depending on the age)
If its a VTI, most corsas don't stand a chance

Those older shape CRX's came in a couple of forms as someone said if it's h-reg it's not likely to be the vtec one (which I've driven and they are rapid, B16a 160 bhp and light as feck) anyway it could be a 16v and still not a vtec and they aint quick.
I'm looking at crx's in the next few months and will hopefully be getting a del-sol vti (if I can find one cheap enough)
Oh and that blue older shape one would be nice with a smaller spoiler and without those daft mirros

You not beat the crx (if it's a b16a) unless you had a 2.0 matey (or nos'd)

My mate had a Mk1 on E reg in white, stripped out some interior and put on a K&N and took front sidelight out, apparently a good mod for getting cold air to filter. It had the 1.6 16v lump but twin cam and non vtec, this motor is about 125 bhp and similar to the Rover 416GTi Twin Cam (which was a Honda Engine in earlier models).
As far as speed goes, and it was a non vtec , a mk 1 and old, it was quicker than the Clio Williams 1 he has and dusted lots of pretty quick cars inclusing a Golf Anniversary with 180 bhp version. Thats how quick a mk1 is and NON Vtec. Maybe the Mk2 is lots heavier. The Mk1 is like a toy, weighs about 800 kg, less when he'd finished.

the CRX's have either the 135bhp 16v non-vtec (has a small bulge on the bonnet) or the 150bhp vtec (no bonnet bulge)
it only went upto 160bhp in the del sol's
co-incidently there is a rust free CRX for sale over here for £600
