Dunno, maybe everyone thinks TB are the way to go just becuase its done more often.
Twin carbs work very well on the XE. Some mechanics even sware carbs are still better.
Granted, not as much power, but give a fuck, theres like £1k to be saved even on 2nd hand kits!!!

Well
299bhp, no forced induction.
2.1 is the max bore
I want carbs on D4 as they are cheaper. A set for sale at just over £300 on MIg Gutted!!
(Hmmm, 170+bhp for £300, no wires, very neat and tidy (the plan) or 180bhp for £2000, lots of cables, and notsoneatandtidy)
so you get everything you need for carbs for £300 or just £300 for the carbs?

TBs aren't a pain when cold if they're set up correctly. My car fires up first time every time even at -10C. Carbs won't extract quite as much peak power as TBs, but worse than that, you won't get anything like the spread of torque that you will on TBs - this makes them less driveable than a similar power TB set up. Any mechanic who swears carbs are better than TBs needs his head examining.

That pretty much sums it up, TB's run off a set map so in theory will always provide the same air/fuel ratio at "X" rpm.
Basically TB's are computer controlled carbs.
