its impossible to get a 60bhp car to do a sub 10 seconds 0-60 unless it weighs as much as a go-kart. you will need around 95-100bhp to get 10 seconds.

9.55
My 1.4 16v only managed a real 9.55. BAsically the same cars, one has 60bhp, one has 95bhp. Yet yours is faster. I do love teenagers and the vivid imaginations

No way matey, my 1.4 8v Mpi SRi, has been recorded with timing gear at Trax, 0-60 11.08 secs, rolling roaded at Northampton motorsport(an acurate rolling road) with 91.1bhp, 89Ib/ft.
Spi is 60bhp and 76Ib/ft, bear in mind when I did that 0-60 I started of at 5,000-5,500 rpm, with little wheel spin and run 15" alloys on 195/45's. I beat the manufacturers time, so was pleased and I have an induction kit and a magnex back box.
My 8v will worry lots of more powerful 16v cars up to 50mph but thats what you get with 89Ib/ft at 2,700rpm peak!

He'll find out one way or another, when I was beating cars with performance figures of 9-10 sec I thought I had a 9sec 0-60 car and that Vauxhall had made an understatment with there figures, but theyre right, still prefer to drive a 8v anyday of the week, and yes mine will definatly out run a similary equiped 1.4 16v SRi, fact, I've done it!

Yes very! And if you saw the state of the battery carrier you would know why! Another job to sort before the shows!

Probably is but doesnt look to difficult, due to the lack of 8v's in the engine bay to get at, I'm keeping mine as the performance of the mpi is nice enough, altho I'm thinking of getting a Unichip (to get rid of the huge dip in the torque curve) and a Courtenay cam, the unichip should gain 5 bhp and the cam claims 10bhp, I'd be over the moon with 8-9 for both
