Why the fuck wasn't the airbags deployed, i know it wouldnt have saved them but airbags should have gone off some time in that accident

If the car has a side impact only the side airbags come out, I don't think that car has them though. Quote me if i'm worng, but thats what the Audi guy was going on about when my Dad bought his car...

cut n shut

Thats what i first thought......but its not the sorta car that gets the cut and shut treatment...........and when u think of the force that car hit the tree.......with the weight of the back wanting to go one way, and the big heavy deisel lump up front wanting to fly the other.........

not the kind of car to get the cut n shut treatment?
i saw one being done
this was a zafira 03 plate had rear damage they got another one sliced em up and welded them togther in a matter of days
and this thing had leather seats etc the lot

buy two smashed new cars at £2000 each
scrap value
weld em together
sell on for used value say £10k profit 6k for a weeks work

all you have to do is use a good mig welder then polish the welds flat and spray over them

its very hard to tell if done right

scary but this stuff goes on

I remember that evo, wasnt a side on accident though was it?

Thinking about it though if a car hits a tree sideways on you would think that the side hitting the tree would just wrap round and the other side snap??

But that isnt the thickest of trees so could have easily of rippied it in half without being cut n shut

evo was sliding sideways into a tree ill find pics
and i think a evo is a 5 door wich makes it weaker side on than a 3 door.

It wouldnt appear that Evo hit the tree half as fast as the audi, and the tree wasnt as thing and vertical as the tree the Audi hit.

I see where your coming from adam, but i still dont reckon its a cut an shut......just high speed (100mph+) + thin tree + side wards = car in half. Almost "sliced" by the tree.
