the only reason they are unreliable is because people wind the boost up and expect the car to cope admirably without uprating anything else- which no turbo car will do!

you have to remember they are over 16 yrs old. they are only unreliable when you wind the boost up and dont worry about cooling. santa pod on saturday 1 got 12.6 down the 1/4 mile.

They are not as unreliable as you would think... if you get a standard unmodified example and dont play with the boost they will last for many miles with regular oil changes etc.

Theres one 3 miles from me thats been garaged for 8 years has FSH and 29k... made me think about it but he wants £3600 for it on a H Plate :S

I'm not paying that!

reason why headgasket goes is due to winding the boost up and not enough fuel, get the fuelling right and even a standard headgasket will last and standard they would rape a corsa, modified well 2.0 16v corsas would have to bow down im sorry! and emma 18 whats done to this r5? rolys 5 from gt tuning got a 12.6 i believe, and a guy on rtoc called nick got a 12.9 and they had quite alot done!
