Nooo, i know the charge temp will never ever get that high, but the turbo material does.

So say its 95 degrees going into the turbo as opposed to 90, then it raises to 100 degrees for arguments sake going into the IC, drops say 20-30 degrees through the IC to the IM, thats still a drop in temp?

Agreed you seem to be getting a massive temp gain, but thats something that can be sorted by lourves, vents, sealed air filter enclosure etc.

Ok, so hot air into the turbo, when a turbo is creating Up to 1000 degrees in heat, what difference is a couple of degrees going to make? Temps going to sore up after the turbo anyway, and with a good IC fitted it should reduce the temps by a considerable amount anyway.

Air feeds will help, but only really are effective at higher speeds when the airflow can be directed to the air filter. But you need to be doing a fair speed to get that air forced up the airflow pipe.

I had mine set up with temp gauges for a while. the underbonnet temp rose to around 40C in normal driving and the filter temp showed this when stuck in trafic. once started the cone temp dropped down to 20c almost as soon as I had started moving. took a while longer to get down to 15C but thats normal city driving.

pre intercooler temps would be around 160C I think (not 1000C thats more like EGT) so a 10-20C change before the turbo would make a significant change to the temp after the turbo. you need cold air feeds and a cool filter temp to help reduce the charge of the inlet temp.

Another normal reply, now why cant you be a bit more liek this all the time rather than going into one??

Now thats explained better i understand a lot more clearly thanks.

On a set up like mine,

Air Temp -> After Turbo -> After Intercooler/Into I.M
40deg. 160deg. 70deg.

Altho thats on my TD, thats pretty much the same for most cars. As u can see, if i can drop my air temp by 20deg, thats gonna bring the after turbo temp down, and thus bring the i.m temp down.

A 20 deg. drop at the air filter, is likely to equal around a 10-15degree drop at the I.M. For every 4deg. drop in boost temp, there is potential to gain 1+bhp.

So the moral of this story, "every little helps".

So what if you were to fit a big FMIC. Wouldn't that reduce the charge but a shedload more before goign into the IM?

yup it would.......but this is a very expensive job on the 306. Rads need moving, new slim line fans are required, new piping etc.....£600+ FMIC is the ideal, but the pricetag isnt, especially on a Derv.......

Vibrio> Why did you sell the BMC?

Ive got an inlet temp sensor in the scoop just before the BMC and normal temps whilst driving are 5'C -> 10'C.

Sitting in traffic it may rise to 25'C.

In the winter i was getting -2'C -> 2'C.
