Oh, right, I was under the impression that an LSD transferred power from the inside wheel on a corner to the outside while turning. I dunno... Tooo complicated for me and i'm tired now

I can't remember which Nova it was, but it had a tuned to fuck LET in it... Was wicked... Was a German one though... If that helps

C20XE's can get about 200-280bhp (maybe more) if they are very well tuned, but they are big block engines and use the heavier gearboxes. LET's can get 300bhp, but will oncur the same handling problems as the C20XE. Quite a few car engineers say that on a large saloon car it is not physically possible to put more than 220bhp through the front wheels of the chassis as the loss of traction would be too great. This power would be reduced in a Corsa as there is less weight in the vehicle so it can roll back on it's back wheels far easier, thus causing wheelspin...

I found this out researching cos I want a fast Corsa... Some of it could be quite wrong cos I got most of the stuff from here and MIG. But the thing about max power in a FWD car came from Saab, and I was told the same thing when I went to look at Aston uni for my Design and Engineering course...

Serious enough for ya snowy?

Good on you for trying to research this, altho most of what you've written is true, the LET can handle alot more than 300 horsies with the right internals, xe's can go upto about 280 yeah but same as with anything, if you want it to be driveable then you couldn't go that far. (that's dry sump etc territory like a rally car )

Most people find the handling OK with a 20xe in as coilovers should sort things out, but if you do wana go with a c16xe and have a reliable 200bhp+ engine you're gonna need at least £8k if you went with tb's.

Lastly, alot think that 220 is the limit but alfa have there 250 146/156 gta's

As for the original question i'd say anything over 130 odd bhp is respectable in a corsa, can't really compare unlike for unlike.

The rex is gorgeous to look at, the evo's just brutal, no refinement. Plus you can go on about the joy of Wankel.

LSD gives power to the wheel with most grip. So if for example a wheel lifts off the ground powers not being wasted... As snowy says this helps when putting the foot down on a drag strip or something as if a wheel starts spinning the power is taken away and given to the other wheel (the wheel which was spinning regains tractions and power is put back)...
