What course do you do at Uni and which Uni are you at? If you can, stick it out. At the end of the day its 3yrs of doing very little work and getting to go out every night and meet loads of new people. I graduate this year and know I am going to miss it. Hopefully the ££££££ will ease the pain
im studying architecture at northumbria uni in newcastle, the course is utter shite, badly organised, and the tutors are all idiots. im in my second year aswell.
money isnt that good in architecture until you've been working for at least 10 years after graduation and made it in a decent practice

If you really don't like it mate then jack it in but if you've only got a yr left, stick it out. Working as an architect in a nice office 9-5 and taking home decent money is surely better than working all hours of the day fixing a broken toilet as a plumber!

U lot make me piss my self, I'm a plumber and earn enough, but I work damn hard for the money I earn, from reading previous posts on this thread most of you find a hard period in your apprentiship and decied fu*k it, if you are like this you are wasting your time going in to one of these apprentiships, you will always have borring parts like tidying the van, washing the van and the borring jobs, that is part of the apprentiship If you expect to be treated like royalty you would definatly be in the wrong job! The other thing ppl dont realise is the responsibility that goes with the job, since the gas courses and legal stuff that has come with it, one silly mistake u can end up in jail doin 5 years! Most of you lot think its easy, its not, thats why so many ppl end up goin for 6 months/ year and say fu*k it its too hard! Make sure its what you want to do and dont just see the £££ signs!

I aint read all this but am telling you now, a bog standard electrician will NEVER EVER EVER earn 40k without serious overtime.
hourly rate (if you get a job as coming out of your time you know nothing) is about 11.50ph , I used to work everyhour god sent and still didnt earn 40k. Am now an electrical technician and training refrideration and air con and i STILL DONT GET no where near 40k.
people who say there is loads of work its a great job blah blah blah are talking shit, its a dirty job and long hours to get a decent wage.
Most firms specify at least 3 years experiance after qualified

Its not about WHAT you do its about HOW well you do it and HOW hard you are willing to work..
If you are a tradesman who works in a high demand industry and you are shit hot at what you can do plus you are prepared to work your bollocks off the sky is the limit.
If you are a lazy bastard and you dont know your arse from your elbow it doesnt matter what job you do. (unless you're a politician).

It 'can' pay, but doesnt always. I work with 6 other sparkies, 2 of them apprentices. On a basic year doing 39 hr weeks we would earn about £20k - with OT about £24k. The ones with houses have houses worth about £130k, 2nd hand family car etc. It totally depends how much work you want. I do some weeks with 28 hr days, weekend work etc, it pays well but I wouldn't want to do it all the time.
