On the Coupe forum one of the lads has developed a chip you can buy for about £50 which increases BHP to around 300. Not bad for a £50 chip!!
My mate is buying one soon so I'll let you know what they are like in standard form.
No idea whether they were modded or not but the couple I've had a quick blast against gave up shortly after I put my foot down. They are shite round a corner aswell.

I'm pretty sure at the original time of production they were the most powerful front wheel drive car?

Thought the Coupe was supposed to be one of the best FWD handling cars of its day?

You're taking the piss right?
Here's what Parker's say:
"Driving - One of the best front-wheel drive chassis ever; controls are precise; handling is pin sharp; add in good grip and a slick gear change and the result is magical. "
"Performance - Urgent acceleration from the standard coupe, with good in-gear response; the 20v Turbo is stunning. "

got any proof of this 80hp increase from a chip then. 16V better for tunning anyway
Here we go again you've asked for proof and I don;t have any so as I am a twat I'll make rollyes at you
I'm just interested to see the proof of this chip which gives the coupe. If your going to make such rash statements about tunning the coupe you should at least be able to back it up rather than make some comment about you being a twat

the focus is certainly very good round bends, it sits very well whatever you throw it into. But i would say its handling is its best point, since i didnt find it dazzlingly quick in a straight line, my dad couldnt lose me right up to 90mph when he had his, and i was driving a 1600 corsa. Show it a bend though, and it will quite happily take it at speeds you wouldnt think it could. Would take the mk1 clio 172 Cup over any other hot hatch though.

clio cup is 6.5 to 60, clio 172mk2 is 7.1ish, 182 is around 6.7s to 60 I think. I had a go with a 170. was wet so and goign through a roundabout so no full boost in first then once past the round about planted it in second, then in to third. he was a head by this time cause he could corner better and was in the inside so had less road to travel. cought him at the top of second was well past at the top of third. Nero was even impressed.

autocar tested the 182 at their recent 0-100-0 at 6.73s to 60mph.
your quoting the 0-62mph (0-100kph) @ 7.1s not the 0-60mph
therefore I suggest you read this
