Emo is techincally "Post Hardcore". I'm not really a big fan, but I can appreciate the musical talent of bands like Mars Volta and Thrice.
I'll stick to my...erm...Trial By Fire. Which I heard again today and totally love

i think emo is a very broad term, no one seems to have a proper definition of it. i mean some people class bands like the ataris as emo cos the songs have emotional lyrics etc but at the end of the day its just good music
by the way the ataris are the best band on the planet and kris roe is a god!!

i think emo is a part of 'post hardcore', yes, but not the be all and end all. i mean, take the bands that were at the forefront of the 'post hardcore explosion' - quicksand, 108, orange 9mm, etc, and in a strange way rage against the machine - imo none of these bands were/are as good as the ones that spawned them (except maybe quicksand), but i digress; they are by no means emo bands. don't get me wrong, i love all these bands, but rage are inferior to inside out and hard stance (ok, maybe not hard stance). the way zack went from the positive, spiritual ethic that was inside out to the 'yo whats up motherfucka!' meanderings of rage left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. a lot of people expected so much of them, but were left short, probably more philosopically than musically - still a great band though. ok slightly off topic rant done with for the night - gotta get up at 6!

none of the above is hardcore,
boy sets fire, hot water music, agnostic front, leather face
thats more like it.
saves the day are good, they are meant to be emo,
i generally see emo as watered down punk
