6k actually is pretty good for one thats so dry - The average for a dry one is 8-9k that needs no work, 7k would get you a dry as a bone van that needs tidying or some mechanicals for the MOT. Obviously you can pick them up at all sorts of prices but you really do get what you pay for with these.

I quite fancy an early split panel van with a nice tuned engine in it too and original paintwork with a bit of faded signwriting............The bank will love me!

I can understand why at the minute, the pictures arent really justice for it. When ive done some work on it and got the interior sorted ill put fresh pics up, better ones. At the minute the interior is going to be finished in an Ash veneer. Im putting 2 x 10" subs in it and 2 x 7x10's and 2 x 6x9's and a TV and DVD player for the people chilling in the back on the comfy sofa

How many vans that are 44 years old can get away without needing tidying let alone still running after that length of time!

Its going to have Safaris on it (opening front windscreens) and probably a set of these -

Should be good when done, guy i work with has a camper with a 2.5 Porsche engine, and a beetle with a 2.0 Porsche engine which runs 13.5sec 1/4mile!

The last beetle rolled off the production line last year actually.

Went to see that van im getting - its nopt much to look at but its at the stage where a paint job and new rubbers all round will make it look totally different. Dunno how to go about painting the interior though - its just bare metal inside....

Yeah i use www.volkszone.com under the same name as on here.

They are really helpful on there and i learnt so much off them.

If i posted the pics that i took yesterday of it, people would think "what a shed, needs everything doing on it" but the main thing is that its almost rot free. The only rust i found on it was the front floorpan, they cost £30 though and ill get my mate to weld it in, no probs.

Other than that it needs paint and interior....

Nah theres loads of people that dont, i never used to til a few years ago til i got into classic VW's. It was the whole rabbit hole thing, the more i saw and read about them the more i was intruiged and wanted to learn more and more. Now im getting one that i can do myself and its really cool. Im looking forward to it.

Im not mad on other classic cars really, its only VW's.

Ben.
